So my fam has tix for Hamilton (Happy Birthday!) but I don't. Name a show near the RR that I could walk up to at 7:50 and have a decent chance of getting a SRO seat?
why are you doing this so late? I think your best bet is TKTS. You could try getting a rush ticket, but you would be limited to shows that are not doing well, if there are any at the time. And not at that hour.
My suggestion if you don't want to spend much money is to go to a movie.
SRO isn't a seat, it's standing room, just in case that wasn't a typo. When are you going?
If it's in the next month On Your Feet is right next door and would be most likely to have seats available that you can probably get with a discount code, but I don't think you'll be able to get SRO.
Bandstand would be the other show most likely to have a discounted seat at that time, but again, probably not SRO.
Depending on the day, possibly Hello Dolly if it's a Donna performance. Great Comet is a long shot, but another option. Again though, it wouldn't be SRO, but discounted seats could be available.
This is assuming you can't get to the box office or TKTS beforehand.
Can't you just go to TKTS earlier in the day and get a ticket for that night? Some shows might have availability that close to curtain but I wouldn't bet on it.
here's the deal: if a show is sold out standing room will have long ago been sold out. And even if they somehow had them, I suspect most would not sell them at 10 til. Many other options; choose one.
You can always try the Groundhog Day lottery. That way you can enter in advance. And if you don't win, they usually have some discount code. And then you will definitely be guaranteed a ticket to something instead of rushing around at the last minute.

Are you saying SRO because you assume all regular seats will be sold out, or because of pricing?
If it's the former, you can see by gross reports which shows will definitely have seats still for sale at ten minutes to showtime. Off the top of my head, Bandstand, On Your Feet, A Doll's House Part 2, The Play That Goes Wrong are all very close to Richard Rodgers and have lots of open seats. Groundhog Day (52nd St) is another option, and Beautiful (don't know where that is).

Why wouldn't they? Osnes's name isn't above the title, and they only sell SRO there when the show is close to or full on sold out. Safe bet to assume that that's the case, so they sold it then. Keep in mind, it was announced that she was going to be in DC that weekend to preform at the 4th of July concert there.
As for the original poster, if you're thinking that shows would automatically sell cheap seats such as rush or standing room right before the show (potentially as a way to off load tickets,) then that's not something that happens. I echo those who had state earlier, if you're planning this far ahead and have the time to do a rush or lotto, or something along those lines, then do that.
In terms of actually walking up to the box office at 7:50pm, I thought there were no advance sales 30 minutes prior to curtain. Are they still trying to sell off cancellations and such at that time?

If you're buying day off then that's not an "advanced" sale. I've walked up to a show in the half hour window and purchased a rush seat/SRO seat. It happens!
Technically, that's the case. But, I've been to many theatres that, despite having a sign in the box office saying otherwise, sell tickets up until showtime
Since the OP hasn't been back, I'll throw in that I think he/she means that he/she will try to get tickets to Hamilton with the family, but if that doesn't work, he/she wants another cheap option nearby.
I don't know what's around, but I do know that any show will sell any tickets available that night until the box office window at that theatre closes, usually at 9pm. Even it the show has started. If you want to buy and don't care if you've missed the beginning, you're in!
UPDATE: Got in line at 6. Behind 15 or 16 people. Ticketmaster said there was about 10 seats still not sold at 7 pm. At 7:30 every one of us got in with SRO or reg priced seats. I was over the moon and loved every minute of the show. Good luck to everyone else!!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
