dear evan hansen- partial view |
I saw the show already, but wanted to go see Colton while Ben was on vacation and just bought a box seat from the theater. It was $159 face value (which I hesitated at first for a box seat) and I thought it was totally fine. I can't imagine your's would be any further to the side.
Enjoy!

I was on the extreme left on the first row and it was ok, but the second row looked fairly obstructed... on my way out I sat on the last one on the second row and I was honestly facing the wall... I was amazed they would even sell those seats...
You can see the second row from this picture:

edit: just looked on older thread and the seat I sat on my way out was actually B11...

This is what I wrote on the other thread after seeing the show:
"I read people saying that there are no bad seats, I would have to disagree with that, the extreme sides of orchestra on the second row looked dreadful. When the show ended I sat down on B 11 just to see how the view would be and it was by far the worst view I've ever seen in any theater. I would say 80% of your view is blocked and you can only see a bit of the stage..."
Sorry, I wrote that the day I saw it...
Can't advice you on wether to just see it or sell it... I personally wouldn't see it from those seats, but I'm picky about seats...
Maybe someone on the boards have actually seen the show from those seats can give their opinion... I just sat down on my way out, it might be different when the show is on?
Okay, thank you so much for letting me know though :)
If someone has seen the show from these extreme seats can you also comment below, now I am considering reselling my ticket.
I got tickets via Stubhub and I was in that row, seats 9 and 11. I was in 9. My aunt, a heavyset taller woman with bad knees, was in 11, and she was very cramped. We brought this to the attention of the house manager, a very kind woman named Michelle(?) and she allowed her to move to an unclaimed seat in the second act. The wall is like, right in front of that seat, and my aunt was in pain. It is surprising they sell that seat. But if you're a shorter person, it's probably less of a problem. You'd just be looking very sharply to one side the whole time. I was in the second seat (row B) and other than having your neck strained somewhat, I had no problem. I was so thrilled to be that close. So, it's up to you, honestly. I would want to see the show in any way, shape or form possible, even if that means being uncomfortable.
Okay! Most likely I will keep the ticket I have and see if I can possibly move up.
If not I am totally fine with turning my head. Were you able to make eye contact with some of the actors?
Yes! I was fangirling pretty hard the whole show. I'd been following the show for months before I actually got the opportunity to go. But, I'll stress it that row B, seat 9 is so much better than seat 11. And your neck might be strained by the end, but once you're there and in the show's glory, I doubt you'll care. Let us know how your experience goes!
just saw the show again tonight!
ben platt is the best actor I have ever seen in my life, I could see the snot and tears dripping down his face during words fail. he is absolutely incredible.
in regards to the seat, I was right in front of the wall for much of the first act. luckily, I got a "booster" seat to help me see, and most of the action is center stage and towards the front, so I could see a majority of the show. somehow, I managed to get a front row seat (during the second act- someone had left and didn't come back!) and that was the best experience.
bottom line is, the seats were still amazing. I loved being so close to the cast and wouldn't trade it for the world.
