Hi! I'm looking to purchase a seat for Hello Dolly! and i found one Row E side orchestra seat 16. It says partial view but how partial is it? Should I just get another seat, or will that be fine?
Hi there. I've been in this theatre a lot. That seat loc is almost the last seat over right in that row. Looks like there is only one more seat to the end of the row. You'll miss anything way over audience right from the stage. Not a lot but some scenes you'll hear the actors but not see them for moments! Depends on the price they're charging. If it's full price, I'd look for another seat location. If it's heavily discounted, go for it. And, enjoy! It's great!

"Thank you! It's a little less than full price but it's Bette Midler so it could be a lot worse! Thank you"
I really hope you didn't get these seats and went with something else.
Found this seat view online from someone who gave this seat a two star rating. This is seat # C 13. It's going by odd numbers on this side, so, this would be the equivalent of seat # C 12 on the side you're sitting on. Your seat is even more off to the side than the seat pictured here because your seat number is 16 which is two more seats off to the side than the seat pictured in this photo.
Essentially, your view will be just like the one above (but on the other side) but you'll be two rows further back and two more seat off to the side than in this photo. And this is already way off to the side, but, you'll be even more so off to the side by two seats.
Whoever sat here who took this picture said this was an absolutely awful view. It would be better to sit a few rows back and not so much on the side or dish out a bit extra for the premium seats if you can afford it. Mezzanine is always also an option.
We're going tonight and have A25 and 27 (Mezz left). Ticket says partially obstructed view but at least it's front row, and I'm hoping since it is the mezz the view isn't as obstructed as my partially obstructed view from orchestra level when we saw Dolly in previews.
Why would they build a theatre with so many 'bad' seats? Is the Shubert a bad offender here or is this just commonplace?
^ I don't know about the Shubert, but when I sat in essentially the same seat numbers in row D of the Ambassador mezzanine, I felt like I was watching Chicago from backstage. I was not told there would be issues like that.
At least here, they do say the seats are partial view.

Oh God, the Ambassador is awful. The center section is so wide that the left and right sections, normally OK if you're in the first few seats in those sections, are very side-like views.
I hope this Dolly patron here got a good discount for this seat. He/She said it was discounted but I bet not enough for this side location. In general, the further down front you are in the Orchestra, the less on the side you want to be because the rows narrow as you get down front so there are fewer seats in the row than further back so you get closer to the wall of the theatre! Mezz on the side is usually better because the rows are more uniform.
Has anyone sat first row Orchestra for Dolly yet? I'm looking at a pair of tickets for a Donna Murphy performance, but I'm worried that it might be too close. Thanks in advance!
PianoMann: I sat 1st row with Donna Murphy. I loved it. You have to look up a bit and you don't get that full picture of the ensemble numbers but I would give that up to be so close to the actors- you can see the sweat dripping off the waiters in the Harmonia Gardens scene! Enjoy!

Thank you, EthelMae! I've seen the show a handful of times already, so I'd gladly forego the full picture for the close-ups for my next visit.
