Senator John McCain has had a brain tumor removed.  Beyond that, I know nothing of his current situation, including estimated recovery time.

Senator McCain was a Vietnam POW at the same time I was in the Navy.  We worried that his captors would mistreat him, use him as a pawn, because his father was Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.  When my Navy office learned of his release, I vividly remember that we all cheered.

As a Republican Senator, McCain has irritated me (a confirmed Democrat) over and over again.  But because of his heroism, and for what he represents to Vietnam and Vietnam Era veterans, he has my respect.  

Please consider sending him good thoughts.

I respect this man and wish him the best, politics aside.  Glioblastomas are usually pretty aggressive and malignant.  Sadly, I lost a friend to the same thing in 2014.  I hope he a survivor of this horrible disease!!

The first thing I thought about was his questioning of Comey at a hearing recently.  Was this a telltale sign that something was wrong. I hope he responds to treatment.

When folks look back at the 2000 election, the focus naturally goes to the voting in Florida.  For me, the real tragedy was Bush defeating McCain in the GOP primary.  I think the John McCain of 2000 would have made a fine president, but this defeat to Bush seemed to turn him into just another party hack.
