Hey! Just got out of this and it has got to be one of my favorite Spider-Man movies. The writing, while not the smartest is certainly a kicker. Some great one liners in there. The cast is also spectacular. Tom Holland has certainly come a long way from his Billy Elliot days... if ya know what I mean. He is sure to become a fan favorite. I wish his performance in The Impossible got more recognition, though. Zendaya was killer and I can't wait to see her character progress in this new series. Michael Keaton had a great character twist at the end. The stunts and effects were spectacular. I hope you all catch this in theatres!

In the tv commercial, Spiderman looks cartoonish  and fake.  Is it like that for the actual movie?

^like the lines the character says or the actual visuals?

I mean some parts are CGI, but for the most part it looked real.

It was one of the better Marvel movies of late , Holland is very likeable which helps, but the most interesting person on screen was Zendaya [ not that I'm really sure who she is ]

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

I'm very much looking forward to this. Spider-Man is my favorite of the Marvel characters, and hopefully, after two reboots third times the charm.

I can't do any more Spider-Man, Batman or Superman reboots for a very long time.  It's bad enough we had to sit through the retelling of his story in the Captain America film.  Ugh.  I don't understand why we're being retold the same story every five years.

All I could think about the whole time was wanting to fill him with some of my web fluid.

Zendaya was horrible, way too much iron man/Tony stark, the fat kid sidekick was annoying, Flash was completely ruined character wise.

Peter doesn't want to be Spider-Man to honor Uncle Ben, he wants to be Spider-Man to impress Tony Stark. His whole given a suit which is basically an iron man suit was terrible. "Karen" basically  replaces his spidey sense.

Keaton was great as the vulture and Holland was good as Spider-Man.  That's about it for me, I wish I didn't waste the money or time and waited to watch it at home instead. I won't be going to see the next one.

Huh? He was in Captain America for like ten minutes and there wasn't any retelling of anything.

I don't-------what do YOU mean? Some sort of wink wink, nudge, nudge thing?

He was a dancer and now he's spider man--what did I miss?

I liked it a lot.

They seem to be aware of a possible reboot fatigue, so we're spared the origin story. I still prefer the Tobey Maguire version, but at least it's way better than the Andrew Garfields. 6 out of 10 from JLZ.

I think people are being fooled when they're told it's not a retold origin story. It totally is - it just skips over the "bitten by a spider, Uncle Ben dies" bit. The movie is how Peter Parker becomes "SPIDERMAN." That is an origin story, by my book.

I really didn't like this movie. The humor fell flat for me for 90% of the jokes (I did like the one when he was driving). The lead girl was possibly the least developed leading lady in any Marvel story yet (Zendaya was far more interesting, even though her part was small). The "twists" were telegraphed from a mile away - nothing in it was surprising. The big action scene in the Washington Monument was done better in Superman II at the Eiffel Tower. Michael Keaton was pretty good as the bad guy, though he gives a speech that makes him too sympathetic for a comic villain and sort of makes you root for him. He's not given enough to really justify that, but the politics that is brought into it makes it kind of unavoidable.

I did like the ferry scene, and the acting was mostly okay. I think I'm just over Marvel movies.

For a WAY better action movie, go see Baby Driver - I saw that on Friday and LOVED it.

I always think or do the exact opposite of what Jorge posts, and it seems to work out for me.  This whole Spiderman debacle is another great example.. Glad I trusted my gut and didn't listen to Jorge

Saw it yesterday, and it's not an origin story...at all. He's already Spiderman when the movie starts. There's not extedned scenes of him learning how to climb buildings or use his powers. He already knows all that. And I was greatful for that because we certainly do not need another movie that tells us how Spiderman becomes Spiderman.

Overall i thought it was pretty entertaining. And it was nice to see a super hero movie that is family friendly and has a sence of humor.

It's not an origin story in the sense that we witness conception but we do kind of witness the growth from a zygote to super hero - so I am sympathetic to the idea that it is a little bit of an origin story. I personally didn't mind though, but my patience for super hero movies is starting to be thinner and thinner.

He's known as Spiderman by the media and the public when the movie starts. He's previously worked with the Avengers and tangled with Captain America.

I guess you could say it's an origin story of how Spiderman becomes an Avenger, but not how Spiderman becomes Spiderman.

I caught a bargain matinee today. Perfect for a 90 degree humid day.  I liked Tom Holland but have to say that I preferred the Tobey Maguire movie.  I thought Marisa Tomei was wasted and really wanted to see a bit more about the Peter / Aunt May relationship. It also could have been 30 minutes shorter.
