According to the Equity audition notice that was on BWW last weekend, the tour is going out on a reduced scale. So still union, but not a full production contract
Specifically, a SETA Category 4, which is not the lowest level (they go to Cat. 6), but still not top tier. For example, Something Rotten! is category 1. Fun Home is also out on a SETA, but I'm not sure what tier.
I thought they were going non-eq too. They are playing a market that rarely ever gets equity tours, and are only there for one night. However, I was wrong.
Man, not sure how much more they can cheapen set. Idk if anyone else saw the tour this year, but the set was really noticeably smaller. Worried about how much smaller it will get.
Frankly, I'm surprised Jersey Boys hasn't just devolved into a bunch of Four Seasons tribute acts at this point like what happened after Beatlemania ran its course. (I know it did at least in one case, and it led to legal issues, which might be why.)

I saw the tour a couple of weeks ago in LA. Set seemed fine to me, but I hadn't seen the show before (and I was sitting in the second row).
The LA tour stop was for a month, and they brought it Mark Ballas, a big name with a good falsetto who closed the Broadway run, so I wasn't expecting it to be cheap there. My wife loves the Four Seasons and the show, so I've seen it multiple times and it was in good shape there - not the best I've seen, but not the worst. (We didn't get front row seats, as we did the first time I saw it, and that does the leave the show's flaws more exposed.) I do wonder how things will go as the tour continues and the stops get shorter and shorter. But I'm glad the cast members will get paid.

I saw the LA stop recently and thought the production looked awful. Mark Ballas was also the worst Frankie I have ever seen. And vocally he was struggling.
