California adds 4 states to travel ban |
I fled the homophobic culture and oppressiveness of Texas for the sunny shores of California 22 years ago.....and never looked back. Immediately upon arrival in the Golden State, I was engulfed by a sense of belonging. I was welcomed everywhere, not just within the Queer community, but within the community at large, as well. At once, California became, and remains always, my home.
I applaud my beautiful and progressive State for taking a stand on Queer issues, and for valuing and respecting me as a Gay Californian and Gay American.
At least Houston's culture is substantially less homophobic than the majority of the state.
HOUSTON GETS TEXAS’ FIRST LGBTQ PRIDE CROSSWALKS
I didn't know they had a travel ban for state employee events. Well done California, thanks for this post it was news to me.
Cat Guy, I'm glad California has made you feel more at home. Truly. However, I wish our government would address the more mundane and pressing issues such as 400 billion in unfunded pensions, 3rd world road conditions, and massive water supply problems. The leaders in Sacramento should be less concerned about keeping government workers from going to Texas and more concerned that hundreds of businesses are doing just that.
Always on the forefront, California has also adopted a curriculum which includes the teaching of LGBTQ history in our public schools.
MisterMatt representin the gay state of Texas.
I posted an article, but I don't represent the state any more than Cat Guy does.
Just presenting my personal opinions and experiences, along with verifiable facts..
