One of my most anticipated shows of next (this?) season is Cursed Child. I thought it might be fun to speculate/dream of who we'd like to see in the Broadway production. I imagine the producers will at least try to bring over some of the original West End cast, including Jamie Parker and Noma Dumezweni, both of whom I'd love to see.
Who are some actors this side of the pond you'd like to see?
I think Santino Fontana or Gabriel Ebert would be great as Harry.
Rene Elise Goldsberry as Hermione? Or Sophie Okonedo?
I like your ideas for Harry! Fontana and Ebert could both work very well in that part. Ebert could also do well as Ron. Sophie Okonedo would be brilliant, but she's a bit overqualified. I doubt she'd take a role like that in something like this. Goldsberry reads too young, I think, at least compared to Noma and the original West End actors. I'd like to see Q Smith from Come From Away do it.
I could see Andy Mientus doing a decent Scorpius, though he may read too old. Maybe Matt Doyle, too.
I'd like to see Alex Sharp take on Albus, I bet he'd be brilliant
I feel like Tony Yazbeck would be a good Harry. Andy Karl could potentially do it, but honestly I think Harry (in the play) takes everything a bit too seriously for Andy Karl do be a good fit.
I am pretty sure they will attempt to work out some kind of deal to bring over as much of the original West End cast as they can and fill in the holes with other British Actors. I am pretty confident that they will fill it with as many British and/or European born actors as they can, mirroring the movie franchise. I don't think we will be seeing many of the usual New York names with this show.
It was important to J K Rowling for the movie cast to be authentic British actors. I don't know how strictly she would expect an American production of the play to stick to that but it's possible that no American actors will be considered.
I get it's a big play, but the amount of musical performers mentioned is silly. Tony Yazbeck and Andy Karl aren't doing a play anytime soon.
I love the idea of Gabriel Ebert as Harry. He's experienced with plays and portraying a British man so I think he'd do a great job in this, but like Scarlet said JK has always kept the cast strictly British. I hope tradition is broken, though.

That's interesting. It would be exciting to see a great crop of British actors make their Broadway debuts in this production, but I'd also like to see some of our favorite New York actors take on these roles. Someone more familiar than I am with the process may answer this question, but wouldn't it be a "big deal" for Equity to allow the entire cast of the production (especially if they aren't the original West End cast) to be made up of British actors? I know that auditions were held in NYC, though I know that is required by Equity even if a role is already cast. I guess I just assumed that the cast would be American, besides perhaps the main stars who might reprise their West End roles...

Alex is seconded. I'd love Tony, but isn't he doing the Band's Visit next season?
@Call_me_jorge, I see what you mean, but I've noticed that big, mainstream plays like this frequently draw from the pool of NY musical theatre actors.
Also: besides celebrities who are way overqualified for a show like this, how many Broadway "play actors" can you think of off-hand? I'm not denying that they exist. Of course they do, but for me at least, they usually aren't established enough to be immediately thought of in a dreamcast like this.
Having said that, you're probably right about Yazbeck and Karl. I was just throwing out ideas.

She's a few years too young (Hermione is ~36 when the play begins, and Erivo would be 31 when the play opens) but could probably read older. She'd certainly be brilliant!

It was done with the 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar (they were all Canadian)

I would love for Gabe!Harry but sadly, he's too tall. I think the height requirement was under 5'10"/5'11"...
John Tiffany had mentioned previously that it would be a mix of British and American (link). Wouldn't be surprised of the ensemble was American and the leads were British.
For my dreamcast...
Carson Elrond as Harry
Christian Coulson as Draco (but could see as Harry, too)
Andy Kelso or Alan Tudyk as Ron
Tracie Thoms as Hermione
Rachel Tucker or Rachel York as Ginny
Jeanna de Waal as Delphi
Joshua Burrage as Scorpius and Ben Cook as Albus (for the heck of it... they're the right age but I rather these role go to unknowns)
This is not gonna happen, but Daniel Radcliffe for Harry?

This was my understanding. I thought I read they were attempting to secure the original West End Cast or I sure hope so.
