After reading Pal Joey's moving account of life on Fire Island I thought it would be fun to make a playlist of your favorites to add to your memories of summer fun there. Be they "all night music" or Broadway favorites, music is a huge motivator to our psyche. So in no particular order, my "all night" list is:

- Waiting For Sex/Dead Of Night/Sacred - Erasure

- Cuckoo/Shady - Adam Lambert

- Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps/Quizas, Quizas, Quizas - Doris Day/Pink Martini

- Don't Stop The Dance - Bryan Ferry

- Swipe To The Right - Cindy Lauper and Jean Michel Jarre

- All Night Long/Dance The Night Away/Come Unto Me - The Mavericks

- In These Shoes?/ Here Comes That Man Again - Kirsty MacColl

- Can You Hear Me? - Amber Mark

- Mayhem - Imelda May

- Heaven Must Have Sent You - Bonnie Pointer & Pointer Sisters

- (If You Want It) Do It Yourself/ How High The Moon/Anybody Wanna Party - Gloria Gaynor

- I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing/ Go West - Pet Shop Boys

- Drive By - Train

- Ich Dich Liebe (I Love You) - Pink Martini

- Rapture/I Want That Man/Love Level - Debbie Harry/Blondie

- Sunshine and Ecstasy/Call Of The Wild/Suboceana - Tom Tom Club

- I've Been Thinking About You - Londonbeat

- Undecided/When I Get Low I Get High/A-Tisket, A-Tasket - Ella Fitzgerald

- Metroland/History Of Modern - Orchestral Manouvres In The Dark

- San Francisco/In Hollywood/Hot Cop - Village People

- This Time I Know It's For Real/Journey To The Center Of Your Heart/Dim All The Lights - Donna Summer

- Bad Romance/Judas/Poker Face - Lady Gaga

- Hard Times/Rose-Colored Boy - Paramore

- Back In Baby's Arms/Walkin' After Midnight - Patsy Cline

- More Than A Dream/Minimal/Psychological - Pet Shop Boys

- Diplomat's Son - Vampire Weekend

- Lip's Are Movin' - Meghan Trainor

- Danceophobia/The Chauffeur - Duran Duran

- Moves Like Jagger/Misery - Maroon 5

- Hung Up - Madonna

- Marching Through The Wilderness - David Byrne

- Tom's Diner - Britney Spears and Giorgio Moroder

- Voulez-Vous/Lay All Your Love On Me/The Visitors - ABBA

That should get me through several hours of "Fast and Slow" motion. I didn't even get into George Michael. What are your favorites?

The playlist from the 70's read more like the definitive disco hits of the ages.

most of the posters here are probably too young to know them.

Le Freak

I will survive

YMCA

Rock the boat

Fly robin fly

Ring my bell

Don't leave me this way

Dancing queen

Donna Summer hits, Sylvester hits, and so on.

I'm the oldster on this board.

All those 70s songs are on my Spotify playlist.

Two songs nail the days I first roamed Christopher Street:

ON BROADWAY, and especially

NATIVE NEW YORKER.

Hearing Native New Yorker now can still choke me up pretty good. All the possibilities in those words....

Fire Island classics.....Hold On To My Love, Jimmy Ruffin, Lay All Your Love On Me, Abba.  Both of these are the Disconet remixes.  Babe, Were Gonna Love Tonight and Your Love Lime.  I'm OK You're  OK, American Gypsy.  Jump The Gun, Red Light & Set Me Free, Three Degrees.  Walk The Night, Skatt Brothers.  These are just a few.  BTW, Steve C.  Heaven Must Have Sent You was just Bonnie Pointer.  Not the Pointer Sisters.  Bonnie had left the group for a solo career, which compared to her sisters who hit it HUGE in early to mid 80's, was not a success.
