Kathy Griffin's photo |

This ill advised stunt doesn't play well for either gender, and I would have found it just as distasteful if it were a man brandishing a servered Trump head.

Damn but I wish Lenny Bruce or Richard Prior was around to put their spin on this.
Oh Mort Sahl- is wrong to ask a 90 yr old to step up here?
She will be fine. She needs to just keep a low profile for awhile and let some other Outrage Du Jours come and go and then go on with her career.

"She's an insult comic, like Joan Rivers and many other comedians before her"
She is not in their league. I used to like Kathy, but she hasn't been funny in a long time. Don Rickles was the best, and I don't recall him putting people down in a condescending, hateful way. There is a sanctimonious mean streak in Kathy. Rickles made us laugh at ourselves, and of course he made fun of people - nobody was spared. She polarizes people --- I'm right and you're wrong. So she ends up turning off 50% of America.
Her press conference was pathetic. It's the old story, she can give it, but she can't take it. I couldn't tell whether she is just delusional at this point or whether it was all part of an act, calculated. She was very quick with her apology video, and very quick getting her lawyer and press conference set up. And she should leave Barron out of all discussion. Children, whether Barron or Sasha and Malia, should be off limits.
Yes, Ted Nugent should have been more widely condemned for his rhetoric, but I think the beheaded image was way over the line. And to call the photo "art" is an insult to most artists. OK, I will grant that if you want to call it art, then it is art. And of course I believe in free speech and her right to say whatever she wants. However, it is art for the illiterate, imo. Like piss in a jar, or a flag on the floor. Provocative, yes. You have a right to do/say that. Porn is a form of art. But I wouldn't put it in the same class as a David Lean film, or a Monet painting, or a Shakespeare play. Porn or piss makes a statement and I suppose generates some level of discussion. Yes, art, I will grant you that, and defend their existence. But I will also criticize it and defend my criticism.
Yes, she had every right to do it. And we have every right to turn the channel. Her apology was insincere. She should have swallowed her pride and actually apologized to the Trump family. That would have taken courage and humility, and introspection. She whined that they are out to get her. Wasn't she out to get him? What did she expect?
Back to her press conference. She came off delusional, the way Hillary looked delusional in her recent interview. I am in the same age bracket as these gals. I am one of the early feminists, I was a big fan in the early days of Gloria Steinem and Bella Abzug, and hit my share of glass ceilings. But I am so sick of them citing misogyny. Yeah, it exists, but it wasn't the factor that brought you down.
I guess Bill Maher is under fire now. Everyone is so f*cking sensitive.
True, Dame, lots of people are too sensitive, and lots of people need to be a little sensitive.
True. But there are other ways of handling it besides mob lynch mentality.
I think perhaps the dislike for Kathy Griffith is even greater than for her evil deed, lol.
You love her, I can't stand her. There we go. I'll say no more.
I don't really care for Kathy Griffin's humor, and I can't find the humor or whatever she meant in those photos. However, she's a comedian (not a good one, in my opinion), not an assassin; this got way more publicity than it should have. Morally, it wasn't ideal, but meh, it's just a mediocre joke/political statement.

She just needs to go on Dancing With the Stars and she'll be fine.

DAME said: "I love her."
I love her too, DAME. Just finished listening to her audio book, Celebrity Run-Ins, and didn't find it the least bit offensive or mean-spirited. In fact, some of the chapters and reminisces were actually quite sweet and heartfelt. Her stand-up act is edgier, for sure. But I've always been drawn to edgy comedians. I'm not easily offended. She'll be fine. Bill Maher should have her on as a guest this week. They can announce their apology tour.

I personally do not like her comedy but...
1) She made a mistake.
2) She apologized.
3) I'm good with that.
There are more serious issues in this world for me to focus on.

That's because, as GQ so perfectly put it: You’re gonna be hearing about this for a long, long time. “But Kathy Griffin” is about to become the new “But her emails.” It’s a mortal lock, because the right wing has so perfected the art of phony outrage that they can milk a Grade-Z scandal like #Kathghazi for far longer, and to greater effect, than the left can, even the truly horrifying stuff... Trump and his ilk are far better at making things into A Thing than you or I ever will be, even if those things are blatantly untrue... It's enraging how easily Trump can make himself the MacGyver of chicken ****.

Personally, I think Maher should be under even more fire. Not only was that remark disgusting, he has a long history of being a sexist and Islamophobe. The way self-described liberals continue to embrace him despite the many times he's shown his true colors is baffling.

But I don't think she did. I think her photo reflected some very vivid fantasies that I've had about Donald Trump. Does that make her bad? Does it make me bad?

Who knows? Best way to find out would be for you to post an offensive picture of yourself explicitly demonstrating your vivid fantasies about Donald Trump.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to Donald Trump's actual bloody skull. Otherwise I'd fulfill your request.

Any other person probably would have lost their job/show with his comment.
Why the heck would she have a press conference? This would have eventually blown over had she just left it alone.
Two words: Allred Spawn.
