I've been a student of comedy for a lot of years and I've seen comedians push the edge and sometimes go over it. And I've supported them because they were telling the joke to be funny in their mission of entertaining their audience and maybe get them out of their comfort zone a bit. Just watch the great movie "The Aristocrats" if you want to see what that genuinely looks like. That's not what this was. Foxx is missing the point. She's a comic but this was not about making her audience laugh. It was her making a statement and trying to get some attention. So in my mind, when it's not done in pursuit of laughs, you lose the "Hey, I'm just a comedian" defense. She probably thought this had the same "risk factor" as dishing some behind the scenes stories about Oprah. She was wrong.
Liza please, the head could have been anyone. You had to be told it was Trump. It was a ****ty latex mask that barely looks like him without being covered in blood.
Uncle Charlie, she made a statement. She was wrong and she herself admitted it and apologized. Did Trump when he "JOKINGLY" sayd that the Second Amendment people should deal with Hillary?
How do you explain a no talent that says she's so sorry, and then recognizes she made a mistake by apologizing?

She is extremely talented and a very smart business lady. Bet you anything she sells out her next tour. Have you seen her live? She is brilliant. Her press conference this morning was a very smart thing on her part. As she said.. she is not for everyone. But those she is for just remembered why they like her and will support her. This is her shtick. And right now she is killing it. Go Kathy!
I dunno Smokey Lady, maybe I'm going too strong against her, the apology, the immediate reaction makes me question any sincerity.

Well you are right in questioning. She is in showbiz. I think that is part of her charm. At least to me.
She made an (what she considers) an artful Political Statement, got negative backlash immediately and apologized saying she was wrong. I for one thought she shouldn't have apologized and said she was sorry. Trump has never has he?
Trump, his defenders, and whatever other monsters of the month the alt-right churns out have often fallen on the "it was a joke! freedom of speech!" defense when called out for their ****ty, hateful statements.
Why the hell would she have a press conference? This would have eventually blown over had she just left it alone, now all she's doing is poking a finger in the wound.

I think the potus should be held to a higher standard than what applies to a comic. Unfortunately, not all of the electorate agrees with me. She should have apologized only after Trump wolfed down some humble pie and apologized for the callous remarks he's made about women, including Hillary. It's time to stop treating Trump like a petulant child and shielding him from reprisals.
I'm not a fan of her, but she's a smart cookie in this stunt is giving her more publicity than she ever had. I agree, she'll probably sell out.
However, that stunt was in poor taste, I think, because of what it brings to mind that really happened.
p.s. Is being sensitive a negative thing?

If you listened to the conference she said she has been getting threats.. so maybe this was a way of dealing with that. I don't know. But she is back on the news and kind of back on the A list. Very smart lady. Turning lemons into lemonade.
I've always been a fan of hers, but thought she went too far. Not that I care all that much because, ya know, Ted Nugent and President "Second-Amendment-people" Trump only saw their success grow with each new violent threat.
So to give a huge middle finger to right wing hypocrisy, I just bought a ticket to one of her shows in Novemeber. Can't wait.

Not necessarily, but being overly melodramatic IS.
I have no doubt she's getting threats, and I feel for her. But to stage a press conference where she frames this whole thing as standing up to Donald Trump The Bully (after she already apologized) doesn't make any sense. Of course it's insane that she got fired while a racist and probable sexual assaulter was elected President, but what exactly was a press conference going to change?

So you think name calling is the same thing as being in a picture depicting the current POTUS beheaded and face covered with blood - wow. Comics make fun of Trump every day of the week and have said vile things about his family with no major complaints from the media. I think the beheading picture is a little different. The POTUS will be judged again in 2020 so the electorate will have their say about his policies and behavior.

As opposed to conservative media outlets who continue to accept a non-comic on FOX News, radio, and paid speaking engagements after he threatened the former President's life (as well as the former Secretary of State's) and has yet to apologize? You don't get to take the high ground when conservatives still blow their load all over Ted Nugent.

People get fired for remarks and actions, words and actions have consequences. I don't know if you remember the sports guy "Jimmy The Greek" but he got fired for saying some racist things about black athletes being superior to white athletes many years ago. So tell me why he should have gotten fired but Kathy Griffin should have kept her CNN job.
Kathy Griffin has always stood side-by-side with those of us in the GLBT community. While some were trying to take away our limited rights, she was advocating for our full equality. She earned my admiration and respect many years ago.
If we allow this repressive administration to stifle her voice, then our voices are stifled as well.

Kathy Griffin worked at CNN one night a YEAR! Why does FOX News still allow Ted Nugent on the air? Why does the sitting President have him in the Oval Office?!?

I agree that is wrong but I am not in charge of FOX news - lol. I remember in 2006 when there was a film (Death Of A President) made about the assassination of current POTUS (George W. Bush). Senator Hillary Clinton called it despicable and people need to follow her example.

Once again, I do not run FOX News and I am not POTUS so you need to ask them. All I can say is Ted Nugent was wrong, don't know what else you expect me to do - lol.

Donald Trump refused to rent apartments to black people and was accused of rape and sexual assault by numerous women. Now he's the President of the United States. So tell me why he should have that job and Kathy Griffin shouldn't have hers for a picture.
You can deflect and bring up some other idiot who lost their job, but that's only because you have a hard time defending the person currently in the Oval Office.
