I was just thinking about how much I miss the 2013 Pippin revival. It's truly one of my favorite experiences I've had seeing a show. I loved it so much, by the time the tour closed I had seen it once on Broadway, and three times on tour. With the success of the Cabaret "re-revival" in 2014, I couldn't help but think in 10-15 years, it wouldn't suprise me if they brought the Paulus Pippin back since it was well received, and universally loved.

During this thought process, I started wondering if there were any other iconic revivals that could merit remounting someday.

Deaf West's Spring Awakening. Far superior to the original in my opinion.

Roundabout should definitely bring back their sumptuous production of SHE LOVES ME.

I've been vocal in my complete dismay over Doyle's Pacific Overtures, but I'd still love to see his Sweeney return.

Absolutely this.

And I'll throw in a vote for the 1992 Guys & Dolls.

No! No on revived revivals!!  They should stand on their own and in order to do that, record them on DVD/launch a touring production.  New revivals of the original musical material offer a new  twist/vision on the piece and should be encouraged instead of doing a revival of a revival.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the last revival of Pippin should still be playing. Pippin was my favorite theatrical experience of the last 10 years, and Patina's performance was one of my favorites of all time.

I also loved the last production of Chorus Line much more than most did on here.

Ok, literally in the past 10 years the only "re-revival" that's happened is Cabaret, so don't freak out like its a normal thing that shouldn't be happening or should be changed. Also, I'm not calling for every revival in the world, just those that were unique or iconic enough to warrant it.

Just to be clear, you're talking about remounting a revival, not reviving it. That's what Cabaret 2014 "revival" was. I agree that 2016 She Loves Me and Deaf West's Spring Awakening were absolute masterpieces and deserved to last longer. I hope we the She Loves Me revival set again one day.

I wish Roundabout would have thought to film the Cabaret Re-revival. Especially with Emma Stone as Sally. Let's hope they Marshall and Mendes come to the realization they need to adapt their cabaret As a film.

That didn't even qualify for the term "revival" in my book - that was a copy of the original with technical updates. Maybe we should call that a "reprisal"? And there are valid reasons for doing that. Julie Andrews supervised a 60th anniversary re-creation of My Fair Lady in Sydney this past winter going back to the original direction and re-creating Cecil Beaton's costumes and Oliver Smith's sets. I would certainly pay money to see that. (I would also love to see a startlingly different take on the material - I'm talking to you Mr. Sher!)

I agree that Deaf West's Spring Awakening is practically a whole new show and needs to be preserved for other companies to perform. Other than that, I can't think of anything that I particularly want to see trotted out exactly the same way. Falsettos was wonderful - but not that different from the original production. It was the casting that made it spectacular - and you will never get those people again. I just wish it could have run for a year.

The Jerry Zaks/Nathan Lane Guys and Dolls. The production design alone would be more than enough to completely wipe out the bad taste from the more recent revival.

Sunday in the park with George!!!! With Jake!!!!

i absolutely loved Cabaret! When I was in college in NYC back in early 2000s, my friend and I would volunteer usher at studio54 every 2 months just to see the show. i was so happy to see the revived revival back in 2014 since now I could afford to buy an orchestra seat! :)

Lincoln Center's South Pacific would be my choice, though there are some great suggestions here, particularly Carousel and Guys and Dolls.

I would like to see the current UK National tour production of Addams Family Musical brought to Broadway. (This is a slightly revised/updated version of the 2010 Broadway Addams Family Musical production.)
