Sorry if this is a repeat post, but I searched and couldn't find anything.

Seeing WAR PAINT tomorrow at 2pm and just seeing if anyone has heard if Patti or Christine are going to be out or have been out lately? I haven't heard or read anything saying of any absences lately, but I know people on this board have some of the best inside scoops!

Thanks in advance!!

I saw them both on Thursday and they were in fabulous voice.

Patti missed 2-3 performances with illness awhile back, and Christine has perfect attendance thus far. They're both extremely dedicated performers with excellent track records, and I'd say your odds of seeing them are very good.

They're both incredibly professional, and I'm sure they know people are coming to see THEM.

Patti is also on record about her dislike of actors taking personal days. If she's out, it's because she's legitimately sick.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Saw it Friday night (last  night) and they were both on and healthy and in wonderful voice. I am amazed at these two performers in this show. What a treat! Luckily they are War Horses and tend not to miss so you are okay.

Well... Ms. Lupone was out the night I saw it last month. She was on vocal rest. They had recorded the cast album on the Monday before and I guess it was too much for her. Poor thing. No matter, there was nothing she could do to save this dreadful show. They gave out vouchers to go back and see it another time when she's in it. Neither me nor my friend can imagine sitting through it twice. Not even to have the honor of seeing the "great one" herself. Between the show and the seats, it was an excruciating night of theater. But, to each his own. I have other friends who saw it and enjoyed it very much.

I saw the matinee today and both were a force to be reckoned with. So glad to see them both, they worked off each other beautifully. I truly enjoyed the story and these tow ladies, but the rest was a little blah and repetitive for me. I just wish there was a huge breakout song in act 2, well more than what was given. Patti and Christine truly showed their dedication. Very happy and lucky to see them.

Patti was out last night. Definitely a disappointment to miss her. They offered us the opportunity to see it again.

Yes, sadly Patti was out for yesterday's matinee. Since I am only visiting NY, I took the refund. These things happen.

"Did you still see the show regardless? If so, how was her cover?"

I was there last night and Donna gave a phenomenal performance.  We were all given the choice of a refund or seeing the show with an opportunity to come back at any performance before September 24th.  Well, since I'm from California that doesn't help me much, but both ladies were absolutely spectacular.

I went in with my expectations lowered from some of the mixed reviews I've read, but I really enjoyed it.  It's not big and flashy, but it was certainly a beautiful night of theatre.  So to anyone with tickets for today who will also be missing Patti - don't worry, you're in good hands.

Patti very rarely misses performances, so she must really have been ill.  Pretty amazing if she has been able to  perform so brilliantly while fighting illness.

Glad to hear Donna has been doing great!

just chiming in... I was also there Saturday night. Donna gave an incredible performance and there were moments when I forgot that it wasn't Patti performing. She definitely commanded the stage and held her own to Christine, who is incredible. We were given the opportunity to see the show for free on another performance this summer. Although even with Patti, I don't know if I'd actually want to sit through this show again.

I completely disagree. I would see it again just to see the replacements' interpretations. I was entirely entranced the whole time. Was it compelling? No. Was it musical theatre by the numbers? Absolutely. Did I walk out humming the songs? No. But it was so visually stunning and I really enjoyed the book. And the subject matter fascinates me. I'm reading the source book now. I can see how it's probably a "niche musical," but I'm a fan. If it tours (which I doubt, since Grey Gardens didn't), I'm dying to know who will be cast so I can see it again.

^ Actually a GREY GARDENS tour with Betty Buckley and Rachel York just came to the Ahmanson here in LA earlier this year. Reconceived production rather than a copy of the Bway show, and several years after the show was gone from NY, but we still welcomed it with open arms.

Your point still holds-- mounting a tour of WAR PAINT would seem very unlikely given its reception this awards season.

Oh absolutely... I would have KILLED to have seen that production. But I was talking about a more traditional "Direct from Broadway!" tour. Besides, much like Broadway, War Paint probably wouldn't float without marquee names on tour.

Ebersole was out last night, and I read on Twitter that Patti Cohenour went on for her. Was anyone there, or were all of you at Donna's first performance in Dolly?

Got replacement tickets for 7/2 so hopefully Patti and Christine will both be in that day.  Great of the producers to let you see the show if one of the leads is out and see it again at a later date.  I enjoyed the show enough to see it again to catch Patti.

I saw the show Sunday afternoon. The first act anyway. I actually enjoyed the show. Patti & Christine were great. However, the seats were so uncomfortable that my poor knees couldn't stand sitting there hence I left at intermission.
