As laughable as it is to watch these ridiculous "daily briefings" with Spicer driving the clown car, with Huckabee in the back seat...it's so demoralizing to us, and the world. These two "professionals" may as well have cartoon "doe eyes" drawn on their faces and a bullseye on their backs. I am just getting impatient waiting for the truth to come out...SAD!

I'd like to return to the matter of appointing special counsel for a moment.  WaPo shed a whole bunch of light on the procedure earlier today.  See Here’s how an independent investigation into Trump and Russia would happen

The article leads me to conclude that, with respect to Russiagate, under current law, Trump is basically untouchable.  The most disheartening claim is that "these days, there are formal Justice Department rules that govern how special prosecutors operate, intended to provide more independence. But one thing has not changed: Any president willing to face the political consequences still has the authority to dismiss a special counsel."

Hopefully, mid-terms will be the nation's salvation.

So basically nothing is really going to get done until 2018. That is unless there is some major bomb dropped about collusion with The Russians.

 I do not understand Trump's reasoning today to have the meeting with Russian officials and only allowing the Russian Press in. My gut feeling is we, the American People, are being sold out!

Would not be surprised to see someone from the FBI turn whistleblower and go public with damning evidence about Trump.  Other than that, we would need congressional Republicans to put their country before their party and do the right thing.  In other words, we're screwed until midterms. 

And just to reiterate what I've been saying for awhile, we have not heard the last of Paul Manafort.  In my opinion, his Russian connections will be Trump's downfall.

GOP Senator Mike Lee floated an interesting idea (not sure if he was being facetious) - Merrick Garland as new FBI Director.  The theory being it would appease Dems, and open up a seat on the DC Circuit court.

Having Merrick Garland as the new FBI director is a stupid play for the Dems. Why in the world would you want to give this idiot another open seat on any court? Not to mention, is Garland even qualified for that position?

Agreed.  It's somewhere between obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

Regarding Garland, as a former prosecutor and current circuit judge, he is definitely qualified.  And while the Dems wouldn't want to open a seat on the circuit court for Trump to fill, it's a weak argument. They'd be hard-pressed to fight his appointment as FBI Director after trying to get him on the SCOTUS.
