Did anyone catch it? Will post a link when it becomes available, but the final sketch on SNL tonight featured what seemed a deliberate nod to Sunday in the Park with George. The lyrics & melody were altered, but the resemblance was definite.
Yes, I noticed the similarities. Whoever wrote (or copied) the song had to have heard We Do Not Belong Together and used it as the template for the fake off-Broadway song.
I think it was part of the joke the couple being out of the loop with television and their musical references are limited to Broadway musicals. t was a Sunday In The Park reference but it felt a bit like Passion.
