Has anyone done rush for Groundhog Day? What time should I get there? 2 show day, if that makes any difference. (tomorrow)

I asked the last time I went to pick up my tickets and the guy said rush starts selling the second the box office opens at 10 am. I asked if 8:30 would be too late and he said 9:00 to 9:15 would be a good time to get there.

All rush tickets are obstructed view and with the bedroom set I'm not sure how much you'll end up missing.

I rushed last Wednesday. Got to the theatre about 11am and got second row orchestra, seat 9. This was the end seat of the row.

The view was somewhat restrictive for limited scenes, but I saw everything, with a little head manouver. I actually got to see a lot of action going on in the stage right wings- I'm very nosey, so liked that!

There was a family sat next to me who had pre booked their tickets. I paid $39 they paid $90 per ticket. Being only one seat over, I think I got a great deal. Would be happy to sit there again for that price!

I'm just wondering how this rush has been lately? It is still okay to get there at 9?

I rushed last Friday.  Got there around 915 and was about 8th in line.  My Seats were front row the last two seats on the side.  I have to say these were the WORST seats I have ever sat in, in my entire life VERY partial view.  They shouldn't even sell these seats.

I had previously seen this show from about the 6th row Mezz and can say the view is so much better a little further back to enjoy the set and all of the cool visuals that this show offers.

Luckily at intermission I noticed there were a few seats in the back row.  I asked the usher if we could move, and he couldn't have been nicer and moved us.  I brought my Mom to this show and she was so happy we moved back for Act 2.  The view is a million times better.

It's a spectacular show but do yourself a favor and do not take those front row seats on the far side they will hinder your enjoyment.  A few rows back might be ok.

I second this. The stage at the August Wilson is pretty high. I wouldn't recommend being closer than 7 or 8 rows from the front. I saw Jersey Boys from the 10th or so row and it was not ideal but things were visible. I know with rush being picky isn't really an option, but just so you are aware.

I've seen Jersey Boys from the first row, extreme sides of the orchestra through rush. I thought the view was great and not really obstructed.

Is it the Groundhog Day set (bedroom, mainly) that obstructed you?

The bedroom scene is obstructed.  But also the stage is VERY high and bows out in a circular form toward center.  So if you are on the far seat you are looking directly on their profile if the cast if front stage.  Set pieces and ensemble members frequently block your view of the other actors.

The thing is, I saw this show previously from further back and because of the visuals and moving set pieces it's a much more enjoyable experience.  Being so close and to the side its' impossible to take in the full production as it's staged.

I rush A LOT of shows and typically have NO issue with being partial view - usually you just miss a few things on the side of the stage that you are seated on - and I enjoy being close.  But this show has a BIG cast and lots of moving set pieces which cause a lot more obstructions that normal.  That being said, if they give rush seats out a few rows back it might be better but I think ideal would be at least 5 or 6 rows back.

Does anyone know if the lottery seats are in a better location than the rush seats?

When my friend won lottery, we sat row c at the end of the row. It was a perfect view. When I rushed this past Saturday, I got there at 9:00. There was about 15 people in front of me by that time. i got row a seat 2. And I thought it was a perfect view acyually. The only part that was obstructed for me was when Gus was sitting at the bar (I saw the other two just not him). I did not miss anything else. I did look at the seats at the very end of row a, and it does seem to be really too the side. Your essentially in the corner. But anyways I think the other rush seats seem to be fine. I think either way it's good. What I would recommend is entering lottery, and if you win obviously go with that. It's the same price and you wouldn't have to wait in line! If you lose rush the show. This show is truly amazing!!

I won the lottery for last night's (thursday) show, and my seats were in the center mezz, row H - seats 108 and 109. I thought the view was perfect.

I lost the Groundhog Day lottery but I was able to get a lottery loser ticket for $69.50. It's a good tip for those who GD is a must see. They seem to be offering the lottery loser tickets every day. It was seat G10 in the Orchestra (originally priced at $149).  It was about 8 seats in from the far right and was a perfect view. Was able to see that centre bedroom set perfectly. And since I was able to select my specific seat, I didn't have to worry about obstructed view. Even better, the rest of the row to the far right was completely empty so I had tons of leg room! Also saved the ticketmaster fees by buying in person at the box office.

Rushed today (Sunday). Got there at 9:20 and was 3rd in line. Next person arrived at 10:20, about 4 more between that and 11, and then 11-11:30 there was a huge wave of about 20-25 people. Got Orchestra Right B8. Perfect view, nothing wrong at all.

Just reporting another rush experience last week on a two-show day. I arrived around 7:00 and about 9th in line. I was able to get orchestra far right row H. A few more people joined around 8:00, and more people around 9:00.

I bought 2 $69.50 lottery loser consolation tickets for today's matinee, seats A13 and A15, front row of the mezzanine, 3 and 4 seats off the left aisle. Perfect seats. At the last-minute, about 1:30 p.m., a friend of mine decided to join us, so he went to the box office and was able to get a $39.50 rush ticket, seat A12 in the front row of the mezzanine, 5 seats off the right aisle. I'm not sure how often such a good seat is available for rush just 30 minutes before showtime, but, considering that the rear mezzanine was pretty empty today, it could be fairly often, especially during the week.

I was looking to rush Groundhog Day this Saturday (May 27) with a friend. Considering it is the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, around what time should we get there? Also (not sure if this is this known information) but how are the rush seats sold? Are the first few rows sold to earlier comers while seats further back (and preferable from what I've read) sold to those further back in the rush line?
