SHNSF has announced the 2017-18 season. As was discussed here last year, 2016-17 season tix sales were through the roof and for the first time had to capped, with all indications pointing at HAMILTON being responsible for the unprecedented response. It will be interesting to see what the renewal rate is like this year and in the future. Did people only buy season tix this year because of Ham, or have they now been inspired to continue to be subscribers. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at the SHNSF marketing meetings to how they try to capitalize on last season's sales. A very informal and unscientific poll of the subscribers around us at the four (of six) shows we've attended so far seem to infer that many people, like my buddy and me, were first time season tix buyers and do not plan to continue, rather opting to support the season by just buying the individual shows that are of interest. It's a strong season I feel, but I've seen five of the seven. Didn't see SOR and OYF but have no interest.

The email sent today follows. All musicals, not unlike this season of all musicals except CURIOUS INCIDENT. And there are seven shows rather than six.

Join us for another unforgettable season of Broadway at the SHN Orpheum and Golden Gate Theatres.

The 2017–2018 Season includes SOMETHING ROTTEN!, Broadway's hilarious new smash; AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, winner of four Tony Awards®; DISNEY'S ALADDIN, the hit Broadway musical based on the animated classic; THE COLOR PURPLE, winner of the 2016 Tony Award® for Best Musical Revival; SCHOOL OF ROCK with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber; ON YOUR FEET!, based on the story and music of 26-time GRAMMY Award-winning icons Emilio & Gloria Estefan; and WAITRESS, a musical brought to life by a groundbreaking all-female creative team with music by 6-time GRAMMY nominee, Sara Bareilles.
