If there's nothing in his taxes, why doesn't he just release them? After all, the White House was pretty quick to comment on the story before Maddow aired, so that whole audit story doesn't really hold up.

I don't get the distraction thing- are we not capable of focusing on multiple things at once? Should she not have reported it? It is unprecedented for a modern President or Presidential candidate not to release his or her tax returns, and this is especially relevant given Trump's business ties. I don't really think Maddow deserves any blame or anger here- the anger should be continually aimed at the President who continually flaunts all acceptable standards.

Wait a minute so this shows that he used legally used the tax laws and loopholes to his advantage? Like anyone else would. There's no story here.

I agree. This was really a sad attempt. It was grasping at straws. The media and those that are opposed to Trump are looking desperate. They're losing focus and his supporters are sitting on the sidelines laughing.

One item of interest.  Of the $38M he paid, $31M was alternative minimum tax which he is looking to eliminate.  AMT is a separate tax calculation that is a backstop to ordinary income taxes so that wealthy americans that can use all the legal loopholes (like writing off millions in losses because they're such successful businessmen) continue to pay some tax.  Eliminating the AMT - as he is proposing - would mean he would have paid $5M in taxes.

Right- and if anyone bothered to actually watch Maddow's segment, her guest explained that quite clearly. No, she didn't produce a silver bullet to take him down. But she highlighted a lot of troubling things that could be in his tax returns, but because he refuses to show us, we don't actually know.

Not at all KDOGG.  But the Maddow hype complete with her Twitter Teasers and countdown clock and her American Idol/Ryan Seacrest bit... We will reveal all..... after the break.... silliniess. all for the revealing scandal that he paid 38 million in taxes, gives him and his supporters ammo that the media is out to get him.  

I mean how many times do we have to hear about the MLK bust that TIME Mag said he removed from his office but was proved he didnt. So when he does get caught doing something bad, he is handed an other excuse along with all the polls and newsmedia saying he would be slaughtered in the election. and has another something to point to when he says the Media is lying.

 Its like that Rolling Stone hype about the fake rape, or the Duke lacorosse players, or Tawana Brawley, or the fake Muslim attack that teen girl made up/  Or the Jewish vandalism done by that crazy liberal journalist.  It causes good people to question if the victim is telling truth, and gives ammo to bad people who want to deny it.  You can see this happening I am sure
