I would like to take my kids to see The Lightning Thief at the Lucille Lortel Theater (they are huge Percy Jackson fans). I found a discount code which enables me to purchase seats at a nice price on the sides of the orchestra or the very back of center orchestra. The side seats are available all the way from the front row to the back. Does anyone know if the view is fine from the side front seats or is it better to choose side seats further back (because sometimes being too close doesn't allow you to see the entire stage)?
It is a low stage (typically, although some productions built it up higher), and I've sat in the front row on the side many times. Again, it is production/set dependent... most shows it will be fine, but some sort of boxed it in to make ti a smaller stage, and reduced the visibility from the sides. But the Lortel itself has a low stage with good visibility from the sides...
I was seated in the rear center orchestra (left side) recently and the overwhelming stench was sickening. I believe I have heard others post of a very bad mildew/mold problem in that theater. The smell was starting to make me sick to my stomach. (It's possible that the smell was from another audience member, but I think the mold/mildew is the more likely explanation). I haven't smelled that from the side section when I was seated there.
Thanks! You all have been helpful...except that now I have to decide side or rear orchestra. Looks like we have votes for both. LOL It sounds as if the view should be fine from either, so I need to just make a guess and choose!
