My AP environmental science class is having a walk for water and we are raising money to help the people in Africa obtain fresh water. 100 percent of the donations go towards this and my personal goal is to raise 25 dollars.
The mission statement reads:
"Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!
But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
Please donate to my campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped."
This class has been one of my favorites in my high school career. Although it's depressing to see how badly we've treated our home and planet, it's beautiful to see what we can do to save it and help those around the globe suffering from the affects.
But that doesn't matter, because we're all here. And with all of our differences we have one thing in common. We're all gay.
It looks like you got your $25 donation from someone so congrats. But just a thought here. When people do a walk for something, they normally state what day and where the walk will take place and ask people to pledge a certain amount of money for each mile walked so the greater the distance walked, the higher the contributions people make. They don't ask them to make a lump sum donation ahead of time without any detail about the actual walk. You might get more interest if you organized this as walks for charity are more typically organized.
