Help with picking a show... |
The understudy Natasha, Lauren Zakrin, is absolutely phenomenal. I wouldn't let Denee's absence stop you from going to see Great Comet.
I remember her from LEGALLY BLONDE:THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT ELLE WOODS...Her powerhouse vocals and control on the exercise bike were incredible...
Don't miss Great Comet, Skimble! It's extraordinary.

My husband unexpectedly made plans without telling me... I'm mad... He offered to buy me a show to make up for it...
So of the following what do I see??
WAR PAINT
Thoughts: I LOVE PATTI LUPONE...But I'm worried about the reviews...
THE GREAT COMET
Thoughts: DENEE is out, but GROBAN... such a talent...and I'd sit second row...
MISS SAIGON
Thoughts: Is it worth taking the risk?? If it's bad, maybe it will be campy??
Or any others worth seeing?? I could see anything...
I've already seen SUNDAY twice, so...maybe I'll pass on that LOL
When?
Glenn Close in Sunset BLVD with a 40 piece orchestra is a must-see. I dont mean to upset anyone...but I wish I had skipped Great Comet myself...I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. It was a torture.
Well my top pick this year is Dear Evan Hansen all around.
Of your suggestions I'd say Miss Saigon. I saw this revival in London and it was breathtaking.
I should have specified that I've also seen DEH and SUNSET already (and GLASS MENAGERIE)!!
I've seen COMET once before but in the rear mezz... would want orchestra this time...I loved GROBAN...

I second this. My vote goes to Comet!
I say go for something you haven't seen yet! Miss Saigon looks amazing and War Paint is a good choice since you love Patti! Have fun :)
As far as Miss Saigon goes, it's a transfer from the London production, where it got raves across the board, from critics and theater goes alike. I don't think you have to worry about the quality of the production itself.
Thank you for all the kind responses everyone...I love the BWW board community so much!! I'll keep you posted... :)

Me either. We thought her to be the weakest link in the production.
That said, if you've already seen Great Comet, I'd go for Miss Saigon.

Haha I was joking... am married (long time) but my husband neither buys me anything when he upsets me nor enjoys theater as much as I do so you have a good one there! Let us know what you think- I'm trying to finalize shows for my June trip and am on fence about War Paint so am waiting for a few shows to start previews so I can read people's opinions!
