Significant Other's numbers are very disappointing...but I guess I shouldn't be that surprised. How much longer can On Your Feet run?!

Miss Saigon is off to a slow start.  Only $90 average ticket price.  Would have thought it would have been much higher out of the gate.  Also, Glass Menagerie at $60/ticket? Guess Sally Field isn't a big draw.

Also, I'm confused at SWEAT's numbers. Studio 54 certainly has more than 659 total seats.

Miss Saigon is doing well considering it's their first week and only 5 shows. Come From Away seems to be picking up some steam too. Sunset is still maintaining steady grosses

 

SO, OYF and In Transit I see packing up right after Tony Noms. OYF has run its course. SO I can see perhaps running a bit longer if Gideon or Mendez can maybe pick up Tony Noms or Best Play. In Transit could follow a similar scenario if it received any major nominations.

I really don't see what I'm Transit is holding out for at this point. There is no way they will pick up any major nominations with the amount of competition there is. Plus they have to go a whole two more months before Tony noms. With the amount of new shows opening between then and now I'm sure they will only do worse and worse business.

In Transit's producers are really delusional if they think they're going to get any noms. Especially with the new musicals opening soon.

Can SO really hold on through the noms/ Tonys?

I wish Significant Other opened a little later in the season giving more room for nominations, while the show is open....I'm hoping that if it closes before nominations that at least Gideon and the play itself pick up nom's. Lindsey is also VERY worthy to pick one up! I was there the other night and it seemed pretty full, then again it was opening week so i'm sure there were many comps given...

So so so happy with Dear Evan Hansen!!!!!

The lead producer of Significant Other is Jeffrey Richards, who has a tendency to give up quickly, eg American Psycho, Heidi Chronicles.

Slow start? Not really......for only FIVE previews and a 95% capacity thats not that bad and at such a huge theater as well it hasn't even opened yet....

Capacity doesn't mean much... you can always fill seats if you charge low enough prices/give them away... Average ticket price is a better indicator.

good numbers for COME FROM AWAY. They had a nice discount available for previews($99-$69 seats) & 6 out of the 8 shows were sold-out. With it's strong word-of-mouth & [hopefully] strong reviews, I'm hoping this becomes a hot ticket and their grosses continue to climb.

One thing I always look at, which is usually more telling than simply looking at the week's gross revenue is the show's average ticket price. DEH's average ticket price  has been climbing almost every week, and last week it was $145 and change, second only to Hamilton. It's a pretty astounding number, especially for this time of the year. I guess when the summer tourist season hits it will really go up, though I'm guessing that it's mostly sold out, though I'm sure they will be selling premiums which will keep increasing in price. I wonder how it's selling for the typically slow months of the fall.

There was also an interesting article recently in the Washington Post about the future of the show once Ben Platt leaves. His contract expires in November, but I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't extend, at least through the holiday season. Thoughts? Will the show need to replace him with a known quantity? Anyone have ideas who might be a suitable replacement?

Ben already did the show through one holiday season. If he is able to maintain his body and his voice, having not missed a show yet, then maybe he'll want to continue, but I'd be surprised if he extends beyond November.

In interviews Ben stated he has been involved with DEH for 3 years now so I doubt he would extend but who knows. If they bring this show to London I can see Ben wanting to perform there for a shot at the Olivier but a lot of these are simply predictions.

As for avg ticket prices, I think the box office tend to release some premium orch seats within 2 weeks of performance (or change regular seats to premium seats) to increase the avg ticket price. Right now premiums are $399 for the summer. I bet it'll be around $450 after the Tonys.
