I'm looking specifically for The Sound of Music and The Bridges of Madison County national tour window cards. For the past two hours I've checked Google, eBay, the various poster websites, Broadway store websites (just in case), and everything in between with no success.
The Sound of Music is still touring but their store doesn't have it, and Bridges is long gone and that's even harder to find since the national tour window card was so different from the one for the Broadway show.
If anyone has an idea of where I can find these two window cards I'd greatly appreciate it. :)
You might try reaching out to some of the theaters that hosted those tours. Last year the theater in my area had a "flea market" sort of thing where they had window cards, posters, and other promotional items from the tours that had come through.
I called during lunch today. Was told they don't sell merchandise and that "it goes when the tour does". Not an answer to the question I posed, which was almost verbatim from your post. I asked about local storefronts that might have them, and he had "no idea". It was actually a better response than the first phone rep who chastised ME nastily for her inability to hear me (I was in the breakroom: "are you on speakerphone because you'll HAVE to take me off speakerphone...". She wasn't on speakerphone). Our conversation lasted about 20 seconds. I'll try to ask in person next time I'm there (less than two weeks for RIVERDANCE).
I also wouldn't bee afraid to reach out to touring houses in other states/cites as well. Many do keep those things and are usually happy to give them to fans.
Also yes, the Bridges Tour did have a window card. I don't remember any merch when I saw the show, but I may have gotten lucky because I bought mine when they were selling for BC/EFA.
I apologize for not mentioning using the Sound of Music tour's Contact Us link. Great minds think alike! :) However, I have not yet heard back from them.
As as far as show merchandise, for some odd reason I don't remember seeing it either. I'm sure it was there, maybe I wasn't paying attention. But I bought window cards for the shows I had seen in the months prior, so you'd think I would have wanted one.
I'll have to see if I can find the National Tour dates for back then (it was only last March when I saw it) to contact other show houses, but if it's a successful hunt the prize will definitely be worth it.
Thank you for all of the great responses and assistance!
Update: I've got three "The Bridges of Madison County" items headed my way: one theater wasn't sure if I would still want the window card since it had all of the signatures from the touring company written all over it. Autographed! I paid for pick-up and/or postage on two of them, the other was no charge.
It literally is a shame that the tour didn't do any better on the road. I personally thought it was magnificent; the singing, the staging, the entire production.
