Didn't everyone claim Come From Away was selling out?
And it did

My bad, but 600k is not a great number. So selling out with discounts. Not really the same. At all.
Nvm
It did sell out, they sold 101.4% of their seats. Now the gross potential was only 63% but they did offer cheap tickets to 4 performances to help build word of mouth. For such a small show with no name recognition a $600,000 is pretty good. Especially in in February! It also only played 7 shows this week.
also note CFA was only 7 perfs, though that does not alter the gross % obviously. I don't think there is a basis to say what's going on there yet. They will need exuberant reviews to confirm the positive things people are saying and then we can decide if it is one of the sleeper hit of the season.
I think there's a certain hype for this show in the community, from the very positive word of mouth from out of town. The challenge will be to attract tourists and generally all of those folks who don't follow the "buzz".
But this gross and a sold out house is certainly a good point to start!

I'm a New Yorker, and honestly I get the fact the show may be great, but thinking about 9/11...I think i'll pass it.

I feel like everyone keeps saying this but they're entirely missing the point of the show. The show is not ABOUT 9/11, but rather an extraordinary event that took place on the same day and hereafter. At least that was my takeaway from it... and I loved it.
That being said, I think many people will have the same thoughts as you. But I hope they are pointed in the right direction somehow.

They have a practically nonexistent ad campaign and the one they have is vague. Nobody knows what the play is.
Interesting that Sunset took a small dip in attendance but still surged in grosses. Good for them.
And SO's downfall will be its poor ad campaign. Their marketing isn't drawing up any buzz for them at all.

Remember when the New York Times used to have actors do songs and or monologues and post them online? That's the kind of thing they should have Gideon doing to promote the show...
Thrilled for Come From Away, hoping it can maintain enough to run for a while.
Significant Other is quite disappointing. Hope they can find an audience
I didn't know Sunday in the Park with George had standing room.
Bronx Tale's numbers continue to be consistent.
Wow $44 average price paid for Significant Other! That's a great deal for us but not so much for the producers.
Can someone who is better as the numbers game than I am, give a estimated guess at what CATS nut is?

My guess for Cats' nut would be $725-750,000 a week..

Same here Ethan... I've yet to make it to the 9/11 Memorial. It's something I want to do, but haven't yet. Just too many emotions. I'm just not ready for a 9/11 themed Theatre piece. Barely can watch the documentaries shown around the anniversary
COME FROM AWAY isn't necessarily about 9/11, but about this little town in Newfoundland that brought out the best in people during a very dark & scary time. It sends a message of hope, understanding & is very uplifting. In regards to their grosses, they did only play 7 performances & three of those(Tue/Wed/Thur) offered the $38 rush tickets. I believe this show will get excellent reviews and the word-of-mouth is already spreading, otherwise I don't think they would have sold-out every show so far. We shall see where this show stands & how well(or bad) is does after it opens.
What are people's thoughts on 'On Your Feet'? I'm surprised they've kept it alive this long with such low grosses, and that's all with respect and love as I am a huge fan.
I wonder if they will soon either call it quits or announce Gloria stepping in as her mom.

CFA has already been on TKTS and TDF.
That can't possibly be a good sign.
I also understand what people are saying about it not being about 9/11.
However any accurate description of the show is going to make reference to 9/11. That's enough for some people to avoid it like the plague.
