I am seeing the show next Saturday and am super excited!  I was wondering if anyone usually stage doors at the matinee?

I hope so, because I'm going to a Thursday matinee soon. I emailed the theatre and they replied that "The cast leaves the theatre and will greet audience at select performances at our Stage Door, located at 140 W. 45th Street". Unfortunately, they did not define "select performances".

Often "select performances" is "performances where we don't have a call for 20 hours. I think you'll probably have to wait and see as there's no track record to refer to here.

You can always come back with your playbill after the evening show (or even weeks later). I've never been "carded" at the stage door - "your ticket stub, please"

True, but I'm only there for two nights and I'm also seeing Sunset Boulevard and planning to stage door after that one as well. frown

Too bad it's not Come from Away or another show without an intermission - you could try to make both signature lines on the same night

I know the stage door is on 45th, is there a door that goes out that way or do you have to walk around the block?

I can't speak as to this specific show, since I haven't been there yet. But I know in more than one of her past shows, Annaleigh Ashford has come out to sign/take pictures at the stage door after every show, rain or shine. I'm not sure if it's different for this show, but based on her history, I wouldn't think it is. While this isn't necessarily something I would do (I probably wouldn't come out if it was pouring rain lol), I think it is a wonderfully kind gesture to her fans, and fans of the shows she is doing. It is one of many reasons why I have so much respect for her.

Today Jake came out and went in very quickly. Annaleigh, Ruthie, and Philip stopped and signed. A few others came out but kept walking.

Where you at today's matinee as well Laurapattifan?  Was surprised there was only one bows and they didn't come back out (was trying to get my phone out to take a picture the second time, which never came)  That was probably my only minor gripe on an otherwise amazing afternoon

Yes, I was there today too. I thought they would do a second bow as well. Also I think Jake had family, and that's why he came right out.

I didn't see any other way to get there except to walk around the block

Exit the front of the Hudson on 44th and cut through the lobby hallway of the hotel just to the west of The Hudson to get to the stage door on 45th.

Thanks for this tip! To be clear, are you saying that you can enter the Millennium Broadway Hotel on 44th and walk straight through to exit onto 45th?

I did the stage door last night and there really is no reason to rush, unless it was an odd night. It didn't start filling up until 20 minutes or so and then people started pushing and everything, it was very annoying. Jake and Annaleigh came out together after about 35 minutes. Jake didn't seem like he signed for many people or posed for many pictures. You definitely need to be in the front to get him, he ignored the people behind me. Annaleigh seemed like anyone who wanted a signature or picture would get one.

People go nuts for Jake. He's an A list star and couldn't possibly get to everyone. Luckily I was on the guardrail and got autographs on my playbill as well as a photo... but if he doesn't limit the time he would stay out all night

Suprised at the short length of guard rails they had up - the break was right where Jake's car and driver was. That's where he abruptly stopped and left to get into his car. I happen to be in line right at that point. He really rushed with the fans ahead of us. Disappointed but I think it shows his character. He's a big movie star who's doing Broadway. Annaleigh on the other hand is always gracious to the stadgedoor fans taking the time to sign, chat and take pictures. As demanding as Jake's role his his attitude at stagedoor differentiates him from majority of Broadway theatre actors from my experience. Years ago I had a problem with my camera when I stage door Promises Promises - Sean Hayes made it a point after going all the way down to all the fans in line to come back to where I was near the beginning of the line to take a picture with my daughter and I!!! I've heard Jake is not the warmest so I wasn't too disappointed.

Jake nor any other performer owes you absolutely nothing at the stage door. He could've left through another exit, he didn't have to stop at all. No one is entitled to meeting any performer after every show. We've had this argument a countless number of times on this forum.

Yeah, just because he didn't sign for everyone doesn't "show his character." His was very nice and I've heard nothing but positive things about him.  Not everyone wants to sign for a half hour after the show. If you rush out, you shouldn't have an issue getting to the front of the barricades. We got up as the lights went down, watched the curtain call from the back of the orchestra and then went to the stage door and honestly, we would have been fine getting there 5-10 minutes later.

I certainly can say I have never expect anything from any performer at stage door.EVER  I don't act or feel entitled. My daughter was waiting not far from the front -  we thought it was odd there was only 1 or 2 barricades put out - the remainder were not put out but leaning against the wall. We are completely respectful of performers actually people regardless of whether they are a celebrity or not. Guess we've been very fortunate to have met and spent time with many amazing performers and creatives stage door and just by coincidentally over the years.

I also think it's a little different for broadway actors as they probably can still live a somewhat normal life without being harassed everywhere they go... whereas Jake clearly does not share that same experience
