So I was watching NY1 On Stage yesterday, and in the Broadway Whisperer segment, a rumor was revealed about a Broadway revival of Carousel coming next season. It would supposedly be directed by Jack O'Brien and feature Jessie Mueller and Joshua Henry in the cast.
Joshua Henry? sign me up! I hope they bring on Jenn as Carrie, she was highlight for me from the lyric production.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Thoughts?

Wasn't there talks of transferring the production from Lyric Opera in Chicago? The one with Laura Osnes and Steven Pasquale.
If Mueller is involved, I hope she's once again playing Carrie, not moving on to Julie. Her soprano singing has never been her glory, and her personality is more suited to Carrie.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Saw this too and was hoping that Pasquale would repeat his role. Although I wouldn't complain about Henry, but I thought he would stay with Hamilton for awhile

It be more likely she left, because she was with the show for a year. Why would she leave for this, when it's supposed to begin next season?

Would love a remount of the Hytner production, too. But since that's pretty much a pipe dream, I'd be on board with an O'Brien revival. I maintain that Phillipa Soo is the only option for Julie Jordan, but Jessie Mueller would certainly be lovely.
"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.
Soo, Pasquale, Mueller & Henry would be a perfect quartet.

" After seeing James Snyder as Billy Bigelow at Goodspeed a few years ago, I can't see anyone else in the role
He was beyond brilliant. "
I have to agree with this. His portrayal was so heartwrenching and his singing so spectacular, that i really feel a strong need to have a production and cast recording with James Snyder singing Soliloquy, If I Loved You, etc.
I'd love to see Laura Osnes as Julie and Jenn Gambatese as Carrie, with Alanna Hibbert (from the Stratford production) as Nettie, and Erik Ankrim (from the Seattle production) as Jigger. (Yes, I am a Carousel super-fan).
I was not overly impressed with O'Brien's SOUND OF MUSIC tour and thought it paled particularly when compared to that show's last Broadway revival and its subsequent tour. If he were to direct a CAROUSEL revival he'd better make sure it is at least on the same level as (if not better than) the Hytner production, which was simply ravishing in every possible way. I agree with others who have suggested they just bring back the Hytner production for a revival; it is hard to imagine how that one could ever be equaled never mind topped.
