I have tickets. Not because I know anything about the play but because I ADORE Sally Field. I'd love to see her on stage but the reviews I have read here gave me super worried. Should I see something else? Does Sally do theater often? What would be a good alternative show?

If you love Sally Field, you should still go. The text is still incredible, and she's giving a very good performance .

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

The whole reason you bought the ticket was cause you wanted to see Sally Field on stage. You're going to get to do that. So what are you worried about?

I guess I'd still ultimately rather see a play that I would enjoy the story of.

I mean, as far as story goes, The Glass Menagerie is pretty good. You're never gonna be sure if you'll like a play or not, so if you want to see her, just go. She's only been on Broadway one other time, and personally I found this production to be good if not perfect.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

It is one of the greatest American plays. What you are reading are the rants of purists who want it done the way they did it in community theatre whereas this is a fresh look at a classic play being performed without ornamentation so that the language of the play and the actors performances shine through. Sally did it the old fashioned way over a decade ago, and now she is delivering a brilliant performance in a production that blows away the cobwebs. If you love her, you will love this. Don't think another thought about changing.

If you like Sally Field, you'll like it. I personally don't think it's Williams' best work. I also recommend you to see Glenn Close in Sunset BLVD (a must see) and maybe School of Rock or On Your Feet.
