I know we have another Bates Motel thread, but I searched for it, posted in it, but it doesn't show up, so I started this one.

Final season starts tomorrow night and I can't wait!

I thought any scenes between Norman & his [dead] mother were fantastic last night! Revealing her corpse in the basement gave me chills. It would truly be a great final season if that's all that was focused on. But then they throw in the boring scenes between Dylan, Emma & Caleb. Though in the previews it does seem like Dylan returns to the motel to find out about Norma being dead.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

That sure was chilling to see Norma in the basement! I thought the episode was a showcase of Highmore's acting skills. I can't wait til we see him actually moving around and speaking as Norma.

Hate being this person but not sure why you have a private thread when this show is currently being discussed on this long time thread:

answer- Because 1. If you bothered to read my opening post here, I explained why I started this thread.

2. If you haven't seen a current episode of a show, SIMPLY  don't read that thread.

You hate being that person? Then don't be it.

That's the best you can do after realizing you made a mistake? Don't bother with the prayers, just say oops or something that shows you are human. If possible.

I'm surprised no one is talking about last night's episode.  The ending was so perfect. I'm wondering how much of Psycho we're going to actually see in the show - it looks like it's getting very close to the movie.  I don't remember Dylan and Emma in the movie - I'm trying to figure out how they'll figure into that....

Was just going to post about last night. It was easily one of their best episodes & the final 5 minutes was beyond captivating & thrilling. Eager to see how far they make Norman take on Norma.

I think this supernatural element is starting to ruin the show.  In the preview for future episodes they have Caleb hugging ghost Norma.  They've deviated too far from the reality of the show.

Was he hugging the actual dead Norma in the chair?

I watched it again and it does look like he's hugging "ghost" Norma, but then we see later in the preview that he's really hugging mummified Norma. Of course we don't know who's eyes we are seeing the first part through. If we are seeing it through Norman's eyes, we would be seeing Norman's confused reality. Then the second part could be seen through the camera (our) reality.

I don't think there is a "ghost Norma. There is mummified Norma, Norman's imagined Norma that he interacts with, and the Norma that Norman becomes in his head. None of it seems supernatural to me.

Getting caught up on my TV during this snow storm. This final season is fantastic. I'm on the edge the entire time. The scenes with Norman, "Norma" & occasionally a third party just blow my mind. Highmore is acting his butt off this season. Can't wait to see how it all ends.

Trying not to spoil anything with this question,........................................................................................................................................................................... did Norma actually kill her? Was the "It was my fault" and the following merely a Norman fantasy? I mean she was right behind him but didn't follow him out the door.

I think you're forgetting how Season 4 ended. Norma's dead. Norman lights the furnace and shuts all the vents in the house, causing carbon monoxide to fill Norma's room, in a murder-suicide attempt. Romero arrives and finds the two unconscious on the bed. He attempts to save both of them but is apparently unsuccessful in saving Norma, and he breaks into tears. Norman wakes to see his unresponsive mother. Any scenes with Norma in season 5 is through Norman's mind.

**SPOILER**

So when Norma is killing Madeleine, it's all in his head. Madeleine isn't dead, it was just Norman imagining Norma killer her, hence why he runs out of her house. Also, Chick has witnessed Norman talk to his non-existent mother several times now & I think Norman is finally catching on to this. Norma is frozen in the basement of the house.

**END SPOILER**

No, I remember how season 4 ended.

{Spoiler)

I also saw Norman watch Norma kill the assassin ("How did you get there so fast?"Bates Motel 2017. The assissin is dead. I saw Norman watch Norma fire a gun at Caleb, she (Norman) missed. I saw Norman watch Norma kill Madeleine. Could the Madeleine we see following Norman as he left be a part of his twisted mind? He ran to the door, she followed, he left the house and sat in the car. The effect of the throat slitting was the exact same as that of the assassin (sorry, drawing a blank on his character's name). She didn't follow. Didn't even look out of the door window.

"I was trying to figure the same thing.  Is the view of Madeline getting her throat slit imaginary? or is the view of her running out afterwards imaginary? No hint in the next time on Bates Motel
