I am looking to audition for a production of Hair and I need 32 bars from a musical written before 1970. I am a mezzo belter. Looking for some suggestions! Thanks!
This is somewhat challenging. HAIR was at once perfectly of its time musically but, as musical shows went, musically far ahead of its time. Its score is dramatically unlike almost every other score written before 1970. CELEBRATION and PROMENADE, which I don't know well at all, might be the only two scores written before 1970 that I'd suggest looking at. But you might also consider Rhythm of Life from SWEET CHARITY.
