March NYC Trip - Show Suggestions?!#1

Hey Everyone!

I'm heading to NYC the first weekend in March and need some help deciding which shows to go to. I already bought tickets to Sunday in the Park with George and have up to 4 slots left for shows (not sure if I'll cave for all 5 though).

In terms of the newer shows, I've already seen Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen, and Hamilton (all incredible!)

Currently deciding between the following:

  • Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
  • Come From Away
  • The Price
  • Sunset Boulevard
  • The Present
  • School of Rock
  • Significant Other
  • Sweat
  • Miss Saigon
  • In Transit

Look forward to hearing feedback! Thanks!

Here's how I'd rank the shows you listed:

  • Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
  • Come From Away
  • Sunset Boulevard
  • Miss Saigon
  • Significant Other
  • The Price
  • The Present
  • School of Rock
  • In Transit
  • Sweat  (But only because I have NO idea what this is.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I consider Great Comet a must-see! I highly, highly recommend it.

For your other three possible slots, I'd probably pick Sunset BoulevardMiss Saigon, and Come From Away.

School of Rock is tons of fun and will leave you laughing, rocking, clapping along, jumping to your feet, and humming on your way out of the theater.

I witness it every night. There literally has not been one single performance that hasn't gotten a standing ovation.

Natasha, Pierre is also great. Very unique, creative and well done.

I wouldn't recommend The Present. I wanted to slit my wrists during the first act. I was so bored.

If I wasn't working I probably would've left early. I was really jealous of the (literally) dozens of people who did.

I haven't seen In Transit, but everyone I know who has says save your time and money.

I can't really comment on the other shows as I haven't seen them.

Definitely go see The Great Comet.  I would also go see Miss Saigon, Come From Away, and The Present (Cause Cate Blanchett is majestic).

Stay away from School of Rock and In Transit.

The only ones on your list I've seen are School of Rock, which is a lot fun and has a huge heart, and In Transit - which was really cute.

I personally am dying to see Great Comet, Miss Saigon, and Significant Other - but that's just my opinion. I've heard great things about Come from Away and that's also on my list, as well.

Not sure how much that helped, but I do highly recommend School of Rock - it's a fun time.

  4. Sunset Boulevard
  5. School Of Rock
  6. Miss Saigon
  7. The Price

Thanks for the input everyone! I think I've decided I'm definitely going to get tickets to Great Comet and Come From Away and then probably Sunset Boulevard (or possibly Miss Saigon).

I was checking out all of the threads and it seems like there shouldn't be much of an issue to rush all of these, so I'll probably end up doing that! Super excited!
