Late Friday night, less than 48 hours after Jeff Sessions was confirmed as Donald Trump's Attorney General, the Department of Justice took direct aim at transgender students. The Trump Administration immediately dropped its objections to a nationwide hold on Obama era protections for transgender youth, signaling their intent to undermine the basic equality of transgender students — from participating on sports teams to accessing restrooms during the school day to protecting a student from being outed as transgender by a teacher.
