Anyone planning on attending tomorrow's first performance? Curious and excited to hear how this production and cast are! Also, curious if anyone has heard if any rush tickets will be available for this show? I remember reading something on the website saying that something would be announced at a later date, but couldn't find that same message when I checked the website today. Here's to hoping they will!

If anyone sits in a restricted view seat, please report back

Looks like Sondheim was at last night's final dress and this picture posted on Twitter gives an idea of what the space will look like.

I don't remember seeing restricted view seating. Where are they located?

It looks brighter, and cheerier inside than I expected.

Well, it looks like the house/work lights are on for that picture.

I have a "restricted view" seat. It's located about where the guy in the grey T-shirt is standing behind Sondheim in that picture.

I read that it is considered "restricted view" because it faces toward the wall with the Exit sign, so I will have to turn my head to watch action behind me.  If that's all it is, then I'm good. But I would like to hear reports back, too.  (Not that I could change my ticket, anyway. "Restricted" was all that was available, and there are very few of those remaining.)

I thought the same, but I've seen a few other photos from tonight's pre-show with the audience in their seats and it had the same bright lighting. A strange choice, in my opinion.

Is anyone going to stage door? I know stagedooring is less common for Off-Broadway shows but I was wondering for both Sweeney and Lovett.

I'm going on the 26th. I have tickets for the 2nd level, so I am very curious to know how this all works out.

Any inkling if there'll be a Playbill for this?

Does anyone feel like the current leads are just filler until Carmello and Lewis show up? Perhaps it's just me.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Nope....they are the leads from the London production. While I'm thrilled to see Carmello and Lewis, I'm still a little bummed not to catch their performances

Yeah, I'm really hoping to catch it in both iterations. I'm pretty stoked for Carolee, but have always found Norm Lewis to be a paralyzingly boring actor with a great voice, so I'd like to see a Sweeney who can act it first.

Can't wait to hear more about this show. Although, I have to admit that I'm disappointed in the look of the space - at least from what I've seen thus far. What's with the checkered picnic tablecloths? And while I can understand the room being more brightly lit for pre-show dining, I would expect darker, more atmospheric, lighting during the performance. For those seeing the show this week and weekend, please report back.

I saw these leads in London and found them alright, neither bringing anything new to the table, for me anyway.

I have a feeling they didn't announce Carolee/Norm for a while because they wanted to sell the London names before announcing the American ones. They knew most of us would be excited by their casting and would think "oh, I'll just wait for them." Similar to how Hello Dolly knows we're all going to see it again with Donna so they've essentially sold two tickets at once.

How many of "us" do you think there are?

I'm excited to see Matt Doyle and Betsy Morgan.  I would have thought they'd stage the theatre a bit more gloomy, but now I'm really intrigued on how this is going to play out.  I'm not there until April, so I'll wait patiently and read all your reviews.  It will be a Sondheim day for me as well with Sunday in the Park as my double header.

Canadian, those are work lights in that photo. The production, in London anyway, used mostly candle light to light with a few normal theatre lights. It's pretty dim and gloomy, but adds to the ambiance and mood.

I assume the pre-show pie service uses the work lights to facilitate the feeling of being in an actual cheap pie shop (and also to ensure safe and effective food service).
