Monologue and Song suggestions? PLEASE?? |
The first three songs will be very common, I would suggest maybe looking for more unique songs. Home, UTBM, and Astonishing could be done even twice before you go. BUT, if that's what you're most comfortable doing and you can really REALLY kill it then go for it. But if these are hypotheticals I would say keep looking. Fly Fly Away is moving in the right direction. No idea why anyone would say it's inappropriate. Great song, underrated musical, good acting opportunity. Very G rated too i don't know what whoever told you that found offensive. As long as you're confident in what you're doing, you will do well.
Thanks! Yeah, I assumed those songs might be overused. I am pretty comfortable with UTBM but I don't know if I'll be better than the others, It's not like we're all auditioning for the same role, though. It's a new school, so there's 30 spots for my grade and conservatory. Yeah, fly fly away I've noticed isn't very popular. Some said it might be inappropriate because the director was just kinda strict about G ratedness (?) so I didn't want to risk it. Also, Sing your own song from dear edwina is a song I have used, but It's a little to low at some parts and that one high note is a big too sharp. Thanks for the advice. Also, any suggestions for ballads? Or momolouges?
Fly Fly Away is a good ballad, as for monologues I am not versed in monologues for middle schoolers. I would say, if you can don't use something from a book of monologues. Use a monologue from an actual full length play you've read or seen. Search monologues maybe from "The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man On The Moon Marigolds." Wizard Of Oz might have one as well.
