Hello, I am currently a senior in high school and am currently auditioning for eight schools of music/conservatories to study vocal performance with an emphasis in Opera. Opera is my greatest passion. I am tired of hearing how poor I will be. At this point I am willing to continue to study and cannot wait to get to the point where I am trying to make a "go" of it. Any advice on what to do to better prepare for the reality of it all. I am trained to tune pianos and plan to substitute teach at local schools to support myself. (please no sarcasm- I get enough remarks from everyone), Much thanks. p.s. I have been studying voice for six years, piano for eight, violin for five, and am in everything I can immerse my self in from , honor choirs, to local (hometown) opera, and high school theater productions.

What can anyone say that hasn't been said before? The reality is, it's hard to make it, not a lot of pay, and the rejection sucks. If none of that phases you now, keep going. If none of that phases you in four years, keep going. If none of that phases you in ten years keep going. But the moment it does, the moment the insecurity of it all bothers you, makes you consider another career, that's a sign it's not the career for you. Only people who make it are the people willing to wait ten years for one yes. Like I said, I'm sure nothing you haven't already been told. Best wishes.
