Super Bowl LI Thread#1
Posted: 2/5/17 at 4:23pm

I know there have been a couple threads started about some of the entertainment at the Super Bowl. But I thought I'd start one solely for the game. There are many members here, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who enjoys sports & will be watching the game, so I thought this might be a fun thread! I hope everyone who is watching the game enjoys it!

PS: Go Falcons!

To be honest, after the blowout-filled playoffs we've had so far, I just want a competitive game haha

As a Bills fan, though, I'm morally obligated to root against the Pats haha

Rooting for the Falcons but think Patriots will win 31-20.

Two reasons I think the Patriots will win.

1. Top scoring defense in the league
2. Tom Brady

34-24 Patriots is my prediction.

(Also, Terry Bradshaw fangirling over Brady is adorable)

I worked in Atlanta for a few months training people in sales a long time ago.  I don't like the mass majority of white people in Atlanta, the hotbed of slavery, and they don't like you if you have the slightest northern accent.  Is 1864 still on their loser minds?  Having said that I don't like arrogant cheaters either, go Falcons.

I'm predicting a Patriots win. I'm from Boston originally and used to play in their "pep band" back in the day....before Tom Brady was born!!

I don't usually pay any attention to football, but from what I understand, the Patriots have a cheater for a coach, a cheater for a star player, and are the darlings of the whole corrupt organization - so it's great to see them being humiliated.

I loathe Tom Brady, so c'mon Falcons!

Sick, pathetic POS

What an inspired performance! I am obviously no Patriots fan, but I am SO inspired, watching them overcome everything to win this game! Anyone who thinks they can't overcome a tough situation, and everything seems impossible, should think of this game. I've never been happy to see the Patriots win, until tonight.

A-MAZING.   What a final quarter, and, of course, overtime.   Now I can sleep.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

"WHAT A GAME, Y'ALL! First overtime Super Bowl ever!"

Amazing game but Falcons blew with with a couple of costly mistakes at the end when a FG could have put the game away.

Definitely agreed on that. And Kyle Shanahan seemed to try to cover up here, by saying that the sack took them out of field goal range. When, really, it was the penalty that took them out of FG range. The sack was a result of Shanahan trying to get cute at the end. This takes nothing away from the Patriots (Tom Brady still cemented his legacy), but sometimes just saying "I messed up" is the best policy.

The Falcons were on the 22 yard line before the sack. They had run the ball pretty well the entire game. Run two straight plays and even if they gain nothing you set up a 39 yard FG which is not very hard for professional kicker. I believe the success rate is probably at least 75%.

It sounds to me like Shanahan was trying to say that he was throwing the ball so Bryant wouldn't have to kick a 50-yard FG. When it would've been more like a 38-yarder. So either he forgot what happened (which is very possible, given the craziness), or he's trying to cover up. Maybe he didn't want to run because Coleman had gotten hurt, but Freeman was doing most of the running anyway. Either way, he messed up.

And now he's coaching the sorry 49ers.
