Statement by the President on International Holocaust Remembrance Day

“It is with a heavy heart and somber mind that we remember and honor the victims, survivors, heroes of the Holocaust. It is impossible to fully fathom the depravity and horror inflicted on innocent people by Nazi terror.

“Yet, we know that in the darkest hours of humanity, light shines the brightest.‎ As we remember those who died, we are deeply grateful to those who risked their lives to save the innocent.

“In the name of the perished, I pledge to do everything in my power throughout my Presidency, and my life, to ensure that the forces of evil never again defeat the powers of good. Together, we will make love and tolerance prevalent throughout the world.”

Like all good Trump apologists, you quickly pivot to a different topic whenever Don The Con is criticized!  The  press release has nothing to do with Israel.  George W. Bush and Barak Obama mentioned Jews when their Official Statement was released to the press.

What a sad irony Don the Con's statement almost at the same time I banned Muslims.

I would not be surprised to learn the statement was written by Steve Bannon.  He probably omitted any reference to Jews so as not to offend Neo-Nazis.

It's a shame someone couldn't keep this thread in the spirit in which it began. It's not new to say "never forget" about the Shoah.  It's also a shame someone couldn't demonstrate how leaders today seem to want to do just that, to forget, without another person turning that into a tennis match.


A real shame, but the remembrance day is over so back to your normal. It's not an admirable normal.

As a Jewish guy, it saddens me beyond measure that the Trump administration fails to see the parallel between Germany persecuting and then exterminating its Jews and Trump persecuting Muslims the world over. The deportations started yesterday. If they come for my Muslim brothers and I say nothing, I am culpable too.
