Wicked 2NT Reviews |
Excuse my long post, but 2NT is my love! I have seen the 2NT touring company 13 times in the past 8ish months, most recently in Orlando. For my first show in Orlando, 1/15 Matinee, I had the privilege of seeing the wonderful standby, Emily Schultheis, in the role of Elphie. She was FANTASTIC. She had a fantastic Wizard and I and brought a fun, young element to the role. For the other two shows I saw, I had the wonderful Jessica Vosk as my green girl. H I L A R I O U S. Seriously, this lady is killer and don’t even get me started on her No Good Deed. I have had the lovely Amanda Jane Cooper as my Glinda for all 13 shows and she never disappoints. I had Anthony Festa, the understudy Fiyero, for 2/3 of my shows on my trip. He was a fantastic dancer and definitely did some fun, new riffs that I’ve never heard. For my third show, I had Jeremy Woodard. I saw him on his first weekend in the role in Houston and I honestly can’t say I was impressed. I am pleasantly surprised with the progress he has made in the past few months. Kristen Martin as Nessa is freaking phenomenal. Her belt is extremely strong and her Wicked Witch of the East had my jaw dropped. Andy is a hilarious Boq, definitely my favorite. Isabel was a fun Madame Morrible, Fred was a decent Wizard, Chad was an amazing Dillamond, and Chase Madigan killed it as Chistery. The ensemble is filled with talent including my personal favorites Olivia Polci, Jillian Butler, and Allison Bailey. Olivia has a killer voice and I can’t wait until she finally gets her chance to fly as the green girl. One more person in the ensemble, I can’t not mention is Lauren Cannon. Replacing Kali Grinder, she had big shoes to fill and she has done it extremely well. Not to mention this cast is the most kind cast at stage door, they are so appreciative of their fans and it is so refreshing. See this show guys, you won’t regret it. I promise.
I accidentally posted twice and I don't know how to delete it oops! So yeah, go see Wicked 2NT.
Caught Jessica Vosk as Elphaba at the Kennedy Center earlier this winter and she is absolutely out of this world. Hope she'll come to Broadway in the role at some point—I would easily revisit the Gershwin to see her again.
I'm gonna be seeing this tour in July in Philadelphia! I've heard a few clips of Jessica Vosk, and oh my goodness, she is truly amazing.
I'm curious, if anyone has stagedoored, who has come out? And will Andy still be in the tour in July!
Caught it in Tampa a few weeks ago-have seen multiple (too many, ok?) iterations of the tour and I have to say that this cast is SOLID. Vosk and Cooper were probably my favorte Elpheba and Glinda, Fred Applegate never disappoints, Isabel Keating was a powerhouse, and Kristen Martin and Andy Mientus were perfect as Nessa and Boq. Everything was perfection and tight.

I saw this 5 times at the kennedy center; I 've seen wicked about 30 times between the Gershwin and the tours. everyone is fantastic on stage
Everyone comes out, but be quick, they'll all walk right by you if you don't stop them. Kristen martin seems to be the first one out, then followed by Jillian Butler/Allison Bailey, etc others. Cooper and Vosk always come out and look for their fans at the end; they know people are waiting for them and for pictures, etc, they take their responsibilities as glinda and elphaba very seriously. the casts of wicked, whether on tour or at the Gershwin are always really nice people.
Agreed, for the most part this tour is in wonderful shape. I caught it twice in DC, once with Allison Bailey as Glinda and once with Amanda Jane, and I have to say I strongly preferred Allison. It may have been an off night, but Amanda truly struggled to sing the score in either belt or legit ranges depending on the song, though she had some good acting moments. Allison has everything it takes to be a full time Glinda in either production-she really made the part her own.
Jessica is a wonderful Elphaba and it was interesting that she stuck 100% to the score, no option ups or riffs but it was so powerful. Isabel Keating is also the best Morrible I have seen since Rondi Reed- truly fantastic. The first time I saw it, Kristen Martin was the best Nessa I had ever seen, the second time it was such a strange performance that I did not enjoy at all--shocked at how different she was on two different viewings. Didn't love the Fiyero or Andy as Boq either time. Ensemble is killing it.
