When he originally announced his hiatus (https://twitter.com/Achapphawk/status/823593859766714369), it had a specific end date and he said he'd "be back for the summer." Not sure if anything has changed but given that he's still referring to it as a break / hiatus, I'd guess he will actually come back.

A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.
