No, it's not a "coup".  It's really not that surprising or unexpected.  Holliday will bug out her eyes and wobble her head for pretty much any gig.  She's known for milking one Broadway role in the early 80s and a fledgling R&B/Gospel career that essentially petered out by the early 90s.

Folks who are familiar with Holliday may not be surprised, but it is clearly a win for Trump if he can land an African-American Tony winner for the inauguration.  Hopefully, she will get a feel for the backlash and decline.

Maybe shes doing a duet with Steve Harvey.

"Family Feud" host Steve Harvey met with President-elect Donald Trump at Trump Tower on Friday.

After posing for photos with Trump in the lobby, the comedian told reporters that he came to meet with Trump after the transition teams of both President Obama and Trump reached out to him last week.

"I came and talked to the guy who's going to be the 45th President of the United States," Harvey said. "[We spoke about] housing for urban development...[to] bring some positive change in the inner cities. He wants to do something. He realizes he needs some allies in that department. He seemed really sincere about it.

Citing backlash, singer Jennifer Holliday pulls out of Trump inauguration concert

Earlier this week, Broadway legend Jennifer Holliday agreed to perform at a welcome concert for Donald Trump’s inauguration. And then, in droves, her fans begged her not to. Now, she says, she won’t sing after all.

Saturday morning she shared an open letter with the Wrap, addressed to “My beloved LGBT Community,” writing that she has changed her mind and will no longer perform. “Regretfully, I did not take into consideration that my performing for the concert would actually instead be taken as a political act against my own personal beliefs and be mistaken for support of Donald Trump and Mike Pence,” she wrote, according to the site.
