It has been a few years of released clips and promotions for this movie.  And unless I missed something.. it hasn't been released other than 2 festivals where it didn't seem to get much buzz.  Will this ever happen?  Is it available anywhere?  Thanks.

Do you have any other info other than that?  Because that is the same thing that has been said for a few years now.

I imagine labors of love are not cheap.   Usually this kind of work requires a lot of permissions and music clearances.   I hope we get to  see it soon.

I'll believe it when I see it.  I'm really pulling for this film but it's kinda starting to feel like Alejandro Jodorowsky's Dune.  I hope the people who payed money to this kickstarter are being updated...

We're not. Hasn't been an update for Kickstarter Backers in exactly a year. I emailed him a couple years ago when there hadn't been an update, and he apologized and gave one at the time, but I've stopped caring now. I consider the money lost. If the movie is ever finished I'll watch it, but I'm not holding out hope.

Trust me. It's coming. Like Dame said , this is a labor of love and in no ways a cheap one. So while it's easy to say "it's taking forever I give up on hoping it ever happens", I just say (as someone who's seen it) - it's coming. I promise.

Can you tell us when? As I said the last update I got via Kickstarter said it would be out last year.

The best I can say Is soon and that I hope it'll all be worth it to you when you see all the footage that's been found, some of it I just uncovered last week that will be added to it. But it is coming.

It seems odd that Rick won't come up for air for five minutes every once in a while to provide information on progress, especially considering that money was raised on Go Fund Me to help fund the project.

Why the F is he still even looking for new footage to include!? When he launched the Kickstarter 4 years ago he said it was 95% shot and 85% edited. Clearly he lied to get people's money and should be ashamed of himself.

As a Broadway fan I am so looking forward to this.. and wish him nothing but the best in bringing this to fruition.  However;  I do feel mislead by the endless coming soon trailers and funding campaigns. He has said on Facebook he still needs more money.  There has to be a reason some angel with deep pockets hasn't given it to him.  And Jordan.. I appreciate your positive words and excitement..  but I find it odd that it has already screened in at least 2 festivals and it didn't generate anything.  Maybe others consider it just not good or worth it?  Maybe a endless parade of talking heads does not a movie make?  I don't know.  Or maybe it is so good that the wait will be worth it.?  But come on... it has been a few years already.    I just want to see it already.  Oh we'll.... hopefully it will all be worth it.

The long-ass sneak peek footage of the then-still-in-production Part 2 included on the Bonus Features of the original's DVD release was enough content for me.  I'm good.  Patti LuPone's section regarding amplification was more than enough.

I am a little turned off by him.   No regard for those who contributed to his fund me campaign.

I used to constantly check the website and facebook page. I gave up.

It has been finished if I remember correctly and hasn't it been shown at a festival? I don't understand why there is a hold up in releasing it. It is never mentioned on his page. At least I haven't seen it mentioned in the past several months and stopped following his page. Or he unfriended me. Not sure which!

At this point I would be shocked if it ever gets released. He's a flim flam man who lied and said the film was 95% shot and 85% edited four and a half years ago. Clearly it wasn't.

Can he be sued?  I really think he might have taken people for a ride.

I am bumping this because in the late article by Michael Riedel on the NY Post about  Marian Seldes he quotes Rick Mckay and refers to him as "Rick McKay, director of the acclaimed “Broadway: The Golden Age” movies for PBS."  Confused by the "Movies"part of it.  Has anything come out that I am not aware off besides the endless trailers?  Just curious.

Not sure if this is anything helpful, but is this what you're looking for? It says 2018.

As I said, talk to him -- he's literally always talking about it and sharing interview clips from it.

Super DUPER sketchy. I've been a personal thorn in his side on this for a while now trying to demand accountability on behalf of his Kickstarter Backers. Instead he slanders me and says that it's my fault it hasn't been released because he's too afraid to ask people for money because I remind people that when he launched the Kickstarter almost five years (!) ago he said he was 95% shot and 85% edited. Then every single year he delays the release by another year.
