Kissing another man doesn't equal 'gay'. In regards to Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield specifically, all I can say is, "If only...!"
I kind of thought Hello My Name Is Doris would show up in a comedy category somewhere. I would have nominated the male lead in that movie over Ryan's Deadpool performance.

If the punchline isn't that it's supposedly funny to see two reputedly straight men pretending to be making out, then exactly what is it?
if it's funny to see two reputedly straight men making out, then why is it funny other than that their pretending to be gay is funny?
And if the punchline is that they are pretending to be gay, why should anyone find their pretending to be gay funny?

Per Andrew Garfield to Stephen Colbert:
"I just wanted him to know that it doesn't matter [if you win or lose], it's how you play the game," Garfield explained. "He showed up, he gave his all, it doesn't change anything in my heart."
When Colbert asked the two-time Golden Globe nominee about how comfortable he is kissing another man, considering some men aren't, Garfield replied, "I don't even understand the question."

That is the punchline. Is it funny to see Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield making out on live television? Absolutely!
"
I didn't think it was particularly "funny". I thought it was insanely cute and sweet and a bit hot. I'm totally fine with it. They can do that, or whatever else in that similar vein that comes naturally to them, as much as they like.
^Ya. Like, why assume there has to be a punch line at all? Is that the only way some people can justify that it happened?
Emma Stone is so cute
Sunday evening was a big night for Emma Stone, who brought home her first Golden Globe award for her role in La La Land, but the actor got another surprise when she spotted Ryan Reynolds and her former flame Andrew Garfield sharing a kiss during the ceremony show

Me, too. In looking back on it, 'cute' and 'sweet' are the two descriptors that made me smile in that moment. If there's any criticism to be made of the act, I direct it towards my own lascivious, wishful thinking. ![]()
