Not the best reviews, but good notices for the actors. Though, I think, as the critics seem to agree, it's just not a good play. No matter who is adapting it, etc.

Agreed Ripped Man, the work is flawed...

I saw this a few days before it was frozen and agree with the majority of its reviews. Individual acting performances were notable, but the story was muddling. I kept asking myself, why is this happening with such little pre-context. such as Out of no where a plane arrived and whisked a son and father away to Paris. That father was a money interest of Anna? Anna is liked by everyone and then all of a sudden they start hating her in the morning? But NOT after she almost blows them up without any repercussions? It was sloppy.

Both leads were quite good in Vanya at City Center but I think I will pass on this one.

Has anyone rushed for it recently?!

I don't think there was a thread specifically about rush for this one and I know people were discussing rush in the preview thread but I'd figured I'd post it here cuz it's more recent.

Same question as LxGstv - anyone rush for it recently / know when is best to get there / how many rush tickets they give out?

Bumping this thread to ask about seating...I want to go on Sunday and there are lots of seats left, including $79 far right/left orchestra seats. I read a bit in other threads but am wondering if these are decent. I'd like to be able to see the actors' faces close up but worry about obstructed view. Any advice is very welcome!

Those seats are the same ones offered for digital lottery winners ($45) when I went last Saturday matinee. I sat in F 17 I believe and funny enough there were about 12 seats in front of me that were empty so not sure if they had not given out all of their rush seats.

I'd say the view was very good and only minimal obstruction, mainly in act 3 where a few characters were out of view for very brief pockets but honestly the dullest of the four acts so I felt like I didn't miss much and this obstruction didn't apply to Cate, who was in full view. I'd say I saw 90% of the show just fine. There are moments where characters face each other so you get the back of their heads more than you'd like or stand in front of one another blocking your view of a character that may be standing further upstage, from these side orch seats. From my seat, def missed a little of Cate's face in act 1 but no obstruction in act 2 where she was at her best, I think house right may have missed her a bit more during this act. Again, no problem with regard to Cate in acts 2, 3 or 4 from my seat.

Though, I'd expect you'd see less if sitting in any rows in front of F that are also on the furthest aisle like my seat was.

Thanks! I love posting here about seating because the answers are so specific. :)
