Hi, everyone!  Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong message group thing...  I have had this account for a while but had yet to post on here til now!

I have a Pippin audition coming up for a very good theatre company I have never worked with before.  I want to impress them, and hopefully at least get in the ensemble, since their shows are extremely difficult to get in to.  Ideally, I would want Leading Player, or maybe even Catherine, but my voice teacher recommended Fastrada.  Basically, I would be very happy just getting in at all, and I LOVE Fosse, circus skills, and the whole score of the show, so I know I would have a great time as an ensemble member.

They ask for 16 or 32 bars for the cut.  At first, I was considering Stranger to the Rain because it lends itself to Catherine and is from CoE, but in all honestly I do not think that it shows off vocally enough nor do I love the song.  I additionally considered Spark of Creation (also from CoE) which I love and believe could also work well for this show, though I am a little worried that I would not feel confident in the ending (sustaining a belt which I believe is a Db, consistently) in a higher-pressure situation like this audition.  I love Sweet Charity, and am now thinking that the song Where am I going? could actually work well for the theme of Pippin, and it also happens to be Fosse (though pretty different)!

Lastly, they mentioned that you actually CAN sing from the show.  They didn't say if it was recommended or not, and I don't think in this particular case I want to limit myself to one character by choosing a song from the show, if that makes sense.

Please let me know if you think any of these choices would work or if you have any other suggestions.  I am 18 and most confident with belting, and am a soprano though I don't usually sing soprano for auditions.

Thank you in advance!!

Try using "It's Not Where You Start It's Where You Finish"  from the musical See Saw.

I think either Stranger to the Rain or Spark of Creation is a great choice!

I auditioned for Pippin with One Perfect Moment from Bring It On, and got cast as Catherine so that might also be a good option if you are looking to play her!
