Best Day Of 2016 |
My best day was either the opening of my show in NYMF, or the first producing seminar I attended along with the other writers and producers.
My best day of 2016 was when the entire membership of the GOP committed mass suicide the day before the election.
Oh, right...
I expect next Wednesday, the 28th, will be my best day for 2016. That's the day on which we will be making our final college tuition payment. Twelve years, twenty four payments, three diplomas (come May), and incalculable expenses and debt. Next? Pay down that debt and fix up our house.

I know that feeling, did it a bunch of years ago and my wife and I opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate !! We paid for two daughters to go through college (Appalachian State University and Florida State University), one was in state and the other out of state.

Wow, that is fantastic. Congratulations !!
I think this thread was a great idea. I have been so focused on how crappy 2016 was, that I didn't really think about the good. But now that this thread has got me thinking, I'd have to say April 20, the day I submitted my letter of resignation to the miserable job where I was bullied, abused, micromanaged, underpaid, and undervalued. After being treated like a worthless robot rather than a professional, I got recruited by a company that truly values their staff and treats them like professionals that can be trusted to work independently.
I second that thought Platypus. Such a great thread YankeeFan, with so much Negative going on here on this board, it is good to take a moment and think Positive
I think my Best Day is when my sister got engaged to a wonderful man who we all love! Also, a friend of mine took me on the set of Younger, and I got to meet Sutton Foster and Hillary Duff! Both could not be nicer!
I have a few candidates.
1. Last Monday, because it was the night of the Bright Star reunion concert, and that was such a magical night.
2. The day the Cavaliers won the NBA title.
3. March 4 & 5, because I was at Disney World, and it those were overall just amazing days.
4. Today, because after years of struggling with depression and other ailments, I finally contacted a local office to schedule an appointment with a therapist. This is something I've been afraid to do for awhile now, but I finally did it today, and it feels like a first big step.
And I agree, this is a wonderful thread :)

Beating depression is so big. Good luck. I used to drive around with my tows curled, gritting my teeth and not sleeping well. That was the worst, rooting for you. The only good news I can think of happened recently. My granddaughter is in 2nd grade and was demoralized by her teacher for the last few months. Apparently this teacher has been at it a long time and saw threats as part of her teaching regimen, like "you won't get to go on the field trip if you don't...." She had the shine taken off her, she was in the honors class so taking her out of there was a bit of a decision for my stepson and wife. two days ago this got settled and she was welcomed into her new class. I wasn't there but I heard that when she got to the new class she saw some of her friends from first grade and they came up to her and gave her hugs. I just saw her today and the shine is back.
october 30th- won the Hamilton lottery in Chicago. Most enthralling performance of my theatrical viewing experience.
november 4th- the Cubs parade in Chicago. So nice to experience history.
november 7th and 8th- still had so much hope and joy. Probably the last time I truly felt fine, if you know what I mean.
December 7th- my 18th birthday, I was angry I couldn't participate in the most recent election, but I'm pumped to vote in every midterm, local elections up until the next presidential.
I should also mention the day I got into Marymount Manhattan College, I just don't remember when that was.

That's so unprofessional of that teacher. Educators should be welcoming and supportive, not demoralizing. I am so happy she has been moved out of that class, and that she is doing well again! Wishing her (and you) all the best!

Great day and think about how wonderful it is to see them win when you are only 18 compared to people in the 80's and 90's - lol
As it turned out, yesterday was a pretty good day for me. Scratch that, it was a terrific day. I've lost about 70 pounds in the last 8 months, and yesterday I bought clothes in a size I haven't worn in about 20 years. Losing weight in your mid-50s ain't easy, but it's worth it.
Good Job Brian....I have been off sugar for 4 weeks now.....But we will have a Patti La Belle pie for Christmas....I will have a small piece
Love this thread! madbrian, BroadwayRox, Platypus, yankeefan, and darquegk, thank you for sharing, and so happy to hear that your hard work has paid off in different respects.

Brian - congrats! I lost 65 in my 40's and it was the best improvement in my life in decades!
My son reported a 4.0 for his first semester in college - that was a great day in 2016!
My wedding day, which also ended up being on my birthday. For practical reasons, we wanted to get the legal part out of the way, but we're still planning the full shindig and honeymoon for a later date. Nobody is absolved of their gifting responsibilities. We want to rake in the loot just like all the heterosexuals.

It is a hugely important first step and a good therapist is worth their weight in gold. Congratulations on that first step and may it lead to many additional steps forward.
