I just heard about it today after seeing a heartwarming series of Tumblr posts by one of the actors in it.  They did a casting call for Asian trans actors around 13-14, and a Tumblr user who fit the bill perfectly saw it and got really excited.  Posted about getting contacted for an interview, the casting people talking to his parents, getting cast, going to start filming, etc.  It was really delightful.  Just this random kid starting from the place of "holy **** they're actually having a character who's the kind of person I am."

Just watched the first episode. Holy crap, it's good. It's so good that I'm almost scared to keep watching, in case in stops being good. But this is one of the best pilots I've ever seen.

I just finished this show and every minute of that series finale just kept me on my toes. Strike that. Every minute of this series kept me on my toes. This is one of the more creative and original tv/streaming series I've ever seen. Everyone in the cast is giving a brilliant performance in their own right and I hope they aren't forgotten come Emmy nominations. Especially for Brit Marling, Patrick Gibson and Emory Cohen. Truly, a remarkable show.

Agreed. As with the two Brit Marling movies I've seen, not everything works, but even the stuff that doesn't work is interesting. She's definitely a unique and exciting creative voice. There's certainly no other series like this one.

Yeah, I wanted to take the Movements seriously, and part of me did, but part of me was also inwardly giggling at it. So at the end I was torn between being genuinely moved and thinking it was kind of silly.

Wow. This did not work for me at all. Just finished after a weekend binge watching. It had moments I loved. And I stayed intrigued through most of it. But that ending was just astoundingly bad.

This article sums up why I don't think the show worked. It's FILLED WITH SPOILERS if you haven't watched yet.

Why The Secret At The End Of Netflix’s ‘The OA’ Seems So Silly
