Gyllenhaal and Ashford to headline SUNDAY at The Hudson |
They're looking for Franz, not Jules. I am surprised Levi and Cusack would return in these rather small roles, but Yvonne is a Tony nominated role and this is a major Sondheim revival.
Carmen Cusack has four dates at 54 Below in March which interfere with this run. Would the production allow for her contract to exclude those four performances? Otherwise I don't imagine she will do it.
When do you think we can expect a full casting? Next week?
SUNDAY is dark that week in March. It's more likely Cusack specifically booked those dates at 54 Below because they don't conflict.
Oh wow, I didn't know the show was dark that week. So you would definitely be right that Cusack will almost certainly be taking part.
I had a feeling she would. This is so exciting. A cast recording is necessity at this point.
I wonder if there will be understudies. If there are, could Carmen be the Dot understudy?
I do believe Yvonne is too large a role to also understudy Dot, but god knows I hope I am wrong because I would love to see Carmen in that part.

Carmen can't be Yvonne and the standby for Dot.
A standby is by definition somebody who isn't regularly in the show but 'stands by' in case the lead is out. Cusack could understudy.
I'm not sure why so many people think Ms. Cusack is above playing Yvonne in this show. Dana Ivey received a Tony nomination for the part. It's a prestigious Sondheim revival and its a limited run. Unless she had an offer to star in another show or to do a movie or a concert tour - this is a fabulous gig.
Have there been many comments on Cusack being above playing the role? I just thought she couldn't because of her concert dates but as long as they don't interfere, I can't imagine she'd pass it up. It's not top billing but it's the second/third biggest female role (next to George's mother arguably), and this is an incredibly high profile revival of one of the most revered musicals of all time. Not to mention it's a two-month run, and she could very likely earn her second Tony nomination.

I was going to mention that, but it would leave about two weeks of rehearsal, one of those weeks presumably being in the theater. It's not a huge role and she's already performed it which makes me think it might be okay.

Thought I'd also add this here because it is beautiful. I am honestly so excited for this.

The one week I'm able to go is the week the show is dark in March. If I want to see this that bad, I gotta go on a weekend just for this show.
Re Cusack having an obligation until the end of January, I just say again there's no way she would have rescheduled her dates at 54 Below for that week specifically were she not involved with this. As someone else mentioned, it's quite a small role and she doesn't even have her own song. Two weeks rehearsal will be sufficient.
I'm getting really excited for this, but I also want to wait to hear the rest of the casting before I buy tickets. I'm hoping Levi stays with the production
I'm sure the announcement will come out tomorrow, since it isn't a holiday. This makes me worried about Carmen not being in it if rehearsals have started.
If they really did begin rehearsals yesterday, you'd have to assume a casting release will go out this week, right? A bit strange it hasn't yet, considering the run begins in a month.

Not sure if this has been answered already. but can anyone tell me if this will be a fully staged production or just a concert version? I am going on a big theater trip in April and I am only interested in seeing a fully staged production! Thanks for the help...
