Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Songbook Academy®, the only summer music intensive for high school vocalists that is dedicated to the music of the Great American Songbook- classic Broadway and movie musicals, jazz, and standards. The program was founded by GRAMMY-nominated performer Michael Feinstein in 2009. Next summer, the Songbook Academy will be held from July 15-22, 2017.
The application process involves submitting two recordings of contrasting selections from the Great American Songbook. Every program applicant receives written feedback from our panel of nationally recognized screeners!The top forty applicants are invited to Carmel, Indiana for a week-long intensive with Michael Feinstein and incredible mentors like Jarrod Spector, Laura Osnes, Sandi Patty, Jane Monheit, Sylvia McNair, Catherine Russell, and teaching artists from leading collegiate music and theater programs around the country.
We are especially proud of our 2014 winner, Maddie Baillio, who recently played Tracy Turnblad in NBC's Hairspray Live! Over the past two years, Maddie has performed around the country, sharing the stage with Michael Feinstein and appearing as a solo artist with leading symphony orchestras.
In addition to the success of our recent winners, Songbook Academy alums are performing all around the country at venues including Feinstein's/54 Below, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Feinstein's at the Nikko, and Jazz at Lincoln Center's the Appel Room, to name just a few.

On January 7th, we welcomed our seven Songbook Academy winners back to the Palladium for the first-ever "Songbook All-Stars in Concert" event, where they performed for a crowd of nearly 1000 attendees.
