For everyone that voted Hillary Clinton instead of Bernie Sanders, you did this.

I often post here on my phone, so please excuse issues with grammar, paragraphing and spelling :).

Your title and post seem to be at odds with each other.

And, btw, HATE did this .

And Bernie would have fared much worse.

I agree it's in poor taste. This is a global issue though and I am devastated. I literally fear for my life when I travel to the US next year now, for fear of a terrorist attack.

For those Bernie Supporters who didn't give two ****s about what Bernie stood for and turned right around to vote for Orange Hitler or DumDum Pop Johnson,  this is your fault. You voted for a ****ing racist, sexist, sexual assaulter, I hope you're proud of selfishness. but tell me more about why you wouldn't vote for Hillary, go eat a dick.

They are also a frustrating group of people and that kind of reasoning made NO sense - I do concede that maybe Bernie did hurt Hillary during the primary. You could see it on Sanders' Facebook page - that said from what I saw they tended to want to vote for third party candidates or abstain from voting rather than vote for Trump.

the racist white people would have voted for Trump regardless. Bernie would not have made much of a difference, I feel.

I had always liked Sanders. I honestly have. But, from the start, I have felt that he didn't have electability. I have felt that if the Republicans thought that Obama was a "liberal commie," then they would ave had a field day with Sanders who's viewpoints are far more left than Obama. I had a hunch from the start that the house and senate would go Republican. With that being the case, if Sanders won, he would be blocked when doing anything from the Republican senate and house. If they didn't like Obama then they sure as hell wouldn't have liked Sanders.

And, I have a lot issues with my fellow twenty-somethings and their support for Sanders. Yes, it's great to rally behind someone and be active in the political process. But, there were two major issues that got to me. There were a lot of Sanders fans who weren't registered to vote in the primary/didn't know that you had to be registered to a party to actually vote in the primary.I am not saying everyone, this is just my experience with many people who are good fiends or family of mine who were staunch Sanders fans.

And, what really bothered me was the sore looser attitude displayed by Sanders fans when he lost. They pretty much weren't going to vote period or vote third party simply because their person didn't win. That's the part that really bothered me the most. Many young Democrats just flat out didn't vote, not because they were anti Clinton, but because it wasn't Sanders on the ticket.

There's a sickness in the American people. Maybe white men are afraid of becoming a minority after all the **** we've put minorities through over the decades? Bernie, Biden, Bloomberg, it wouldn't have mattered. Trump tapped into the dark side of us. He conned us, he played us like a fiddle.

And you know what: I was with her with the beginning, and I'll be with her tomorrow. She fought her hardest and took months of abuse from him and his supporters and we failed her. It's not her fault, it's our's.

I say this as someone who switched from Independent to Democrat just to vote for Bernie during the Democratic primaries. (And, before anyone uses this as ammunition to disqualify me as someone worth the Democratic Party's time, I voted for Kerry, then Obama twice.) Both Sanders and Clinton were gambles, for different reasons.

I voted for Bernie because finally I found a viable candidate who wanted to inject actual Leftist policy into the American discourse. He was refreshingly uncompromising and unapologetic, and I think his legacy will be electrifying a large (and growing) portion of the voting populace with a taste of what a progressive America may look like. That fire has been kindled, and is not likely to die. In fact, like the Tea Party movement on the right, it's likely to grow and become a more important consideration for the Democrats in 2018 and 2020.

That said, I'm not as sure that Bernie would have trounced Trump as handily some seem to think. The Trump campaign would have easily painted him as a left-wing extremist, using "socialist" and "Communist" (and, honestly, "Jew" as slurs to smear him. He may have pulled some more of the working-class white male vote than Clinton, but I don't think it would have been without risk.

Clinton... is Clinton. The enmity towards her on the right and the apathy towards her on the left were known quantities. I can understand why the DNC chose to push her over Sanders: they thought it was a safer bet to pit a safe, well-known, establishment entity against the rogue lunatic the Republicans had been left with. But they underestimated malaise and contempt (albeit, some of it blind hatred) many people felt toward the establishment. And they ignored the fervor, disgruntlement, and sense of alienation from the national class discourse felt by the working class whites (which they basically wrote off). I say this as a minority (Asian and gay), it was a mistake to alienate white men, on both the left (whom they caricatured as "Bernie Bros" ) and the right (antagonized as sexist, racist rednecks). I don't know that there was realistically anything the Dems could do in 2016 to court the Deep Red states, but certainly I think they did themselves a disservice in places like Pennsylvania and Michigan.

This thread is not what we need right now, thanks - it's outrageously stupid to engage in this unsupported "what-if-ery"...you have zero evidence to back up your assertion. You have no clue what would have happened. Bernie could have gone down in flames.

What gives you the right to come in here and dictate to people in this country what they should have done?

Go back to your beloved Australia, which you claim is so progressive, yet hasn't legalized gay marriage yet (something that's likely to go away in this country now).

Not to mention the fact that Hillary supporters voted for her because she reflected their beliefs - moderate, left-leaning - why should they vote for a candidate who stretches way beyond that just because qolbinau "told" us to?

Although I guess that's a whole other can of worms that doesn't need to be re-visited right now.

Listening to her gracious concession speech, I mourned that she will not serve as President, and that is our loss. Bernie Sanders has nothing to do with that.

Besty, I think it's fair to assume that the piece of sh!t person who started this thread is, indeed, clueless.

I think he's probably right (basing that judgment on the thread title, rather than the somewhat confusing post), and it's certainly a conversation worth having. Many people on this thread are behaving terribly, and owe the OP an apology.
