Miss Saigon Alternate Schedule |

Not to my knowledge. Its not that I don't think shell be great, whoever she may be. I would just rater see Eva Noblezada. I am buying tickets this week, and want to do my best to make an informed decision when choosing my date.
In London, the alternate schedule varied (or at least the rumours about it did) - so it was difficult to know when Eva was performing most of the time. It was like there was a schedule, but they didn't always stick to it, I don't think. I saw Eva in London and thought she was good. You should be fine if you go to a Friday or Saturday evening performance, though. Hope you enjoy it.
In London, I saw a Saturday matinee and got a Kim understudy. Also understudies for Gigi and Ellen. I was disappointed at first, but they turned out alright.
The understudy for Ellen was supposedly much better than the main performer, Tamsin Carroll. My opinion is that you didn't miss much in her performance. She looked too old for the part, her acting was ok (though nothing amazing), but she struggled to sing the part. I did honestly wonder how and why she ended up being cast. It was a complete mystery to me (and to the trio who sat in front of me, who didn't like her at all!)
I actually enjoyed the show I saw with the lady understudies. Carolyn Maitland, the Ellen understudy was amazing. She made the Ellen character sympathetic and I was in tears through her song Maybe. (I could have reacted the same way if Tamsin was in, but who knows??!) Carolyn was also very nice to respond to my tweets at intermission and after the show! It was my first show to watch at the West End and it was a wonderful experience!
Now looking forward to the Broadway production!!
Wow! Great story about the Twitter responses. Carolyn Maitland got good word of mouth for her portrayal of Ellen, as did Siobhan Dhillon. Carolyn has been cast as the alternate Alice and Mad Hatter for the upcoming UK Tour of Wonderland. I'll be seeing that in a few months and will be in New York next April to catch a few shows, though not Miss Saigon, as I want something 'new'. Great story about the Twitter responses. Glad you enjoyed your first West End show. What else did you see whilst you were in London?
We had joined a week tour to England and Scotland, so Miss Saigon was the only show we saw. I just carved out the time to see it in our free day. In my bucket list is to go on a show watching trip in the West End someday! Happy watching upcoming shows and trip to NYC!

Completely agree that Carolyn Maitland was far superior to the original revival Ellen, and so was the replacement Siobhan Dillon. I also much preferred the take over Chris, American Chris Peluso and was surprised that it isn't him doing the Broadway run. In London they struck gold with BOTH Kim's -Eva and tiny powerhouse Tanya Manalang- so I hope they can find as good an alternate for B'way.
Don't always expect a Saturday night lead. Years ago, when I saw the original on a Saturday night, Lea was out and the understudy was on. If my memory serves me, I was told she didn't perform Saturday nights, which I thought at the time was odd...major night of the week. I was really disappointed. For this new production, I only have Wednesday night, Thursday night and Saturday matinee open. I'm going for Thursday night and cross my fingers.
Yes, I'd guess Thursday evening is your best option, especially as it's likely Eva will do the Wed matinee, but not the Wed eve. If I were guessing, I'd say Thursday eve is a better bet than Saturday matinee. Fingers crossed for you.
When I saw the show back in 1993 the alternate did Wednesday evenings and Saturday matinees. I actually saw Eva's aunt(whom was the alternate)as Kim. Also had understudies for the Engineer, Chris and Thuy. It was a Saturday matinee.
BUMP!
Any update on this?
I have tickets for their first Monday performance during previews...I'm hoping Eva will be doing most of the preview shows. Unless they're rehearsing the alternate right away?

There's online footage of the recently announced B'way alternate, Lianah Sta. Ana, playing Kim in a regional production and I gotta say I think she looks and sounds terrific. I would be more than happy to see her in the role.
The Miss Saigon alternate schedule in London was a little messy. Originally, it was announced that Eva was going to perform 4 times a week, but then she started doing 6 a week and Tanya Manalang was performing both matinees every week. I went on a Thursday night to see Eva and returned on Saturday matinee to try to catch Tanya, but to my surprise Eva was on again. She is obviously incredible so I did not mind seeing her again.
Hoping there's more of a set schedule on Broadway.

It sounds like the alternate schedule at Phantom (another Cameron Macintosh show).
It pretty much varies from week to week. That being said it still changes a lot at the last minute.
It is very hard to predict who you will be seeing as Christine.
It sounds like the same might be true for Kim.
The Christine alternate schedule is pretty set. Before when Miss Saigon was here the alternate was on Sat matinee and Wed night if I remember correctly. Crazy enough I saw the alternate when I went in 1993 and it was Eva's aunt.

What's your address? I will mail you a bunch of different recent Phantom programs listing different performance days for the Christine alternate.
It's always been the same when I went. You don't have to be an ass about it.

Not being an ass. At least I didn't mean to. I'm sorry if it came off that way. You're one of the nicer people around here.
I just got a little aggravated because if there are two shows I know about it is School of Rock and Phantom.
SOR is at my theater, and I work at Phantom on most of my nights off.
That's why I was able to say what I said about the Christine alternate's schedule.
For you to state the opposite, which I know to be untrue, made me see red for a minute.

It was never announced as a schedule per se, and that was the line of the producers that there isn't a set schedule but there was. I was easily able to see whichever Kim I wanted whenever I wanted, and was able to see the second understudy go on if the alternate was on holiday. I believe the alternate in London went on Thursday evenings and Saturday matinees. I don't recall right now, but it remained the same schedule for the entire run.
