FYI, transaction fees went up by $2.50 today (now will call = $7.50/ticket, concierge = $12.50) for the NYC area only. Check your email; they may have sent a consolation gift code.

This wasn't intended to be another code thread; the existing one is here.

Oh, is this how they're compensating for that million-dollar surprise gift code thing (that I didn't get)? How annoying.

^ I didn't get anything either from that.

This definitely doesn't add anything of value to the app. I get that prices for things will go up. But, I'm more likely to go through whatever ticketing site to buy now because at least I'll get to choose my own seats.

I didn't get anything from that either, though I did get the 'gift card.'

And like Marianna said, the only reason I use TodayTix is for their lotteries, because otherwise, I hate the fact that you don't know where your seats are when you purchase tickets from them.

So far, I don't know anyone that's gotten anything from the promotion they did either.

But this definitely makes it less likely that I'll use them again, once I've used up my gift cards.

They gave me $10 in that promotion.  I have never bought a ticket using the service.

If theaters realize that we aren't fools and refuse to pay this, theaters will stop allocating tickets to TodayTix and instead use other discount services (TDF, TKTS, etc) to fill the seats.

I've been a long time user of the app, but I'm getting fed up.

ugh well that's ridiculous. I don't know how they can charge ANYTHING for will call. Ultimately this app seems like it will cease to become a benefit for regular theatergoers. It has convenience going for it, the layout is nice and easy to use so it makes buying something last minute very simple. But when I get a measly $10 from that big giveaway, and that wont even cover the all the fees? Girl bye.

Also, regarding seat selection. There IS the option for assigned seating with the app (you cant select your own seats but you do get to see where the locations are that youre purchasing). The trouble is, they aren't making any Broadway shows do that and never will. But are trying to force off-broadway venues to use it (which actually hurts those venues abilities to fill in holes in the house with patrons from TodayTix, because you cant move the location after the purchase).

I got $10 off in the deal thing, but the catch is I have to use it before the end of the month. Not many shows are playing in my area so I'm prett let down.

I was always under the impression that convenience charges were added if you didn't purchase straight from the box office. No issues there at all. It just seems like this app is a way to not spend time in the will call, at theaters now.  Well,  the Broadway ones anyway.

They were giving out $20 off vouchers at the flea market this year. But again, they had such a short expiration time.

the worst, they pay there employees next to nothing and clearly instead of absorbing the upcoming wage increase they are choosing to pass it down to the consumers.

Well, that is what most companies do.

I would think most of the people on this board who see a lot of broadway shows are in the theater district on a regular basis anyway. I haven't found their discounts with the very rare exception to be any better than BroadwayBox or Playbill. So if you can just walk to the theater with the coupon code and avoid the service charge altogether as well as knowing the exact seat you're buying, other than for lotteries, why would you ever use TodayTix?

The times I have used TodayTix for non-lotto tickets were when I already had a referral credit, or there were no other codes to easily be had (or, rarely, when I can't make it to the box office in person by the time a code expires).

I'm going to guess that in the future, TodayTix is going to be more beneficial for people seeing theatre elsewhere, like DC/SF/Boston.

As one of the many SF arts goers, I can tell you that we think TodayTix is a total joke. I don't know anyone who uses them. We get the same discounts on GoldStar and much better service.

Have a feeling their days are numbered. I betthey're waiting to be bought by a bigger company so they don't care if they charge ridiculous fees.

I'm a bay area theater goer, and I only use the app for tour lottos/rush (because it takes me over an hour to get to the city, so rushing, if needed, is easier on the app, obviously), but if I want a discount ticket, I go to goldstar because at least on goldstar you can choose orchestra or mezz so you have an idea of where you'll be.

I got a $10 credit with their giveaway but I probably won't use it since I can't get to NYC before end of month and they don't offer much in Boston. It has been useful for buying from afar when I'm going in for a weekend theater trip and can't go into theater in advance to get tickets but seems like the charges are now more than convenience fees on telecharge so will be less likely to use them now.

The Telecharge fees are what, $10 per ticket? Is that right? Because $12.50 seems like it's more than that.

You are right. Never have done more than $10.25 on Telecharge.

I guess they're banking on TodayTix users not knowing they're more expensive now...

I didn't get anything in the giveaway either, which pissed me off because I use the app loyally and frequently. I've always been satisfied with my seat location, often surprised by how good they are. But this service fee increase is just ridiculous. I get that they have to compete with all these other discount sites, but the draw has always been that they're the cheapest and now... they're not.

I plan to use the admittedly generous $25 code, but after that, I may not use it as much.
